Even though many on this board seemingly gravitate towards the "negative" side of the Dolphin ledger -- I believe we’re all (relatively) optimistic at heart. In fact, I think you have to be optimistic to stick with a team that's been a continuous disappointment for many years. Either that -- or some weird kind of sports masochism…

That said, this season has turned into a very nasty ripsaw -- starting out with the hope and optimism of having a bounty of draft picks and lots of cap room -- followed by a 3-0 start. And now -- well reality sucks.

It seems a number of folks wanted to give Ireland the benefit of the doubt -- that he indeed had made some excellent choices including Philbin & Thill. And maybe, just maybe, the future was finally looking bright.

Well, like the Peter Principal sort of predicts -- sooner or later the inevitable conclusion of incompetence becomes apparent -- and once that happens one is left with the stark realization that we knew Ireland was an incompetent punk years ago -- so what's the big surprise?

The honest answer is -- this is NOT a surprise at all. In fact it was totally predictable.

And that's what really pisses fans off -- being suckered into believing the possibility that incompetence can suddenly come up with all the right answers to create a winning combination.

But we all know -- that's NOT going to happen.

Regretfully, we need yet another full house cleaning -- and this time Ross needs to go along with EVERY other piece assembled in this ugly puzzle.

BNF.

20 years? Nonsense. From 94-99 we won the afc east a couple of times, made the playoffs every year but one if I'm not mistaken and NEVER had a losing record. The debacle we have now started when we lost our last franchise QB and started bringing is regimes that thought they didn't need one...

Well, it's pretty easy to gravitate towards the negative, right now. Three straight losses, with this latest one a disaster.

This board will probably remain negative as it seems our coaching staff doesn't believe in making changes, although I just read where Miami has traded for McKennie (and passing his physical).

Of course the majority of us gave Ireland the benefit of the doubt. He did sign and draft some good players, with one (supposedly) becoming a superstar (Wallace). My issue is Ireland gave the coaches pieces to fit into this team, and IMO, the coaches haven't done that well. They seem to be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole at many of the positions. And even if that peg doesn't fit, they keep trying.

You may be right with the housecleaning, but we are going to have to wait to see how this season unfolds. No one is going to get fired before the season is over, and...whomever owns the team after the season is over, will have to see what coaches are available. Can't just fire Philbin and not have a top notch coach available. My personal opinion is that Philbin has to get tougher, both with his players and his coaches.
