The real season starts Sunday!

Bills - WIN 4-2
@PAtriots - Loss 4-3
Bengals - WIN 5-3
@Buccaners - WIN 6-3
Chargers - WIN 7-3
Panthers - WIN 8-3
@Jets - WIN 9-3
@Steelers - Loss 9-4
Patriots - Loss 9-5
@Bills - WIN 10-5
Jets - WIN 11-5

Look at this remaining schedule and my predictions are very doable, this is the NFL though and none of these games are a gimmie. Someone had a post about the Ravens game being the most important of the season (Truth I think?), I believe the most important game is this coming Sunday, coming off the bye, if we can't beat the Bills at home with a rookie QB at the helm, we got some big problems my friends. But honestly, look at that schedule, on paper it's a very friendly schedule.

I think we lose to the Chargers and beat Pitt. Otherwise, the rest looks doable.

We're gonna beat the Patriots at least once, write it down! They are reeling with key injuries to their defense.

can we really go 11-5 without an OL?

i predicted a 10-6 at the beginning of the year.

Im leaning towards 9-7 8-8 record now just because of the Oline.

I hope you are right and we end up 11-5.

That would be an acomplishment and a building block for next year.

We have good individual players on the O-line, i'm expecting to see improvement from everybody involved, that includes the coaches, RT17, RB's, TE's and ESPECIALLY the O-line. I know we all wanted some major changes during the bye week, but I just don't think there were alot of options honestly. This sack problem HAS to get evened out or I think we see some major changes from the top on down this off-season.

The one game we HAVE to win on that schedule is Cincinnati.

We need the tiebreaker for that last wildcard spot.

Laugh Out Loud!......you know what I mean though, they suck right now as a group (scheme, coaching, age?), but on an individual basis, all of these guys except Martin are veterans with a mixed amount of success at some point in their careers. That's why I'm leaning towards the scheme or coaching being the problem.

Lets also keep in mind that the majority of the sacks in the first 4 games were breakdowns in assignments or coverage sacks where RT held onto the ball too long.

Its only the Ravens game where they got their collective rear-ends spanked physically.

There are few defensive fronts in the league as physical as the ravens so I would expect the O-line to play more like it did the first 4 weeks for the better part of the season. Now that wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was versus the Ravens.

There is room for them to improve if they play teams that arent super physical upfront.

One thing is for sure, if they are going to have stretches where they are overwhelmed physically, they have to eliminate the mental errors.

Can't overcome both.

I would have predicted above 9-7 before the season, witness how I predicted 3-2 or 4-1 in the thread that called for predictions by the BYE week.

However, that 3-2 was based on a better performance by OUR team and A MUCH BETTER performance by the teams that beat us.

It's HOW we lost those two games.

And the worst thing of all was when Philbin was heavily criticized for tossing the ball back on a 4th and ONE INCH play instead of the quarterback sneak or even a turnaround handoff,

..............THE NEXT WEEK he did the same just to show how stubborn he was and of course, he met with the same results.

This kind of coaching we get beat twice by the Bills and Patsies and are lucky to split with the Jesters and will get beat by every other good team on that schedule.

But looking at that schedule, besides AFC East, luckily, there seem to be few other really great teams.

Move on Chyren, we get it, you don't like Philbin, but it's getting old hearing it in every single thread

What has me confused about it, is that the West Coast offense is suppose to be quick passes that neutralize pass rush, but a large portion of our passing offense doesnt seem west coast.. It seems like a lot of plays that take time to develop and for RT to go through his progression...

Having good screens to the rb and quick hitches to the WR, helps offset the pass rush, but we are not doing either of them very much to help the oline... We have an oline that can get down field on a screen, so it doesnt make a lot of sense...

I do blame some of our issues on play calling.. But remember it is not Philbin calling the plays, they come in from the booth from Sherman...
The 4th and inches play pitch backed 4 yards on a toss to Miller was horrible... Why in the world would you not sneak it behind Pouncey and Incognito defies logic...

It's a thread about the future, dude. And that's what I'm talking about.

True from Sherman on most routine plays, Crowder, but for the 4th and one inch inside the 20 yard line, that is field goal or run up the middle or pass or fake run and then pass..........the guy whose a*s is on the line probably has the final judgement. And that guy is the coach.

I dont know it is a tough call, if you pay a guy to call the game, I am not sure it makes sense for Philbin to pick and choose in the heat of the moment when to allow him to do so...
If Philbin has a problem with something that should be handled in the game planning or practice during the week, not in the heat of the moment during the game.. Otherwise it doesnt make sense to give Sherman the play calling duties.. But you are right if Philbin hated it, he probably could have said no way... Just not sure that is how it works with his hierarchy and coaching structure... It seems he lets Sherman call the game from beginning to end...

A couple weeks ago, RT said that he told Sherman to call that goal line play at the end of the game to our TE, I believe it was against the Falcons for the winning score...
WHen Sherman was asked about it, that RT told him what play to run, he said, I called the play, RT might have liked the play, we practice it a lot and I knew he liked it, and that is why I called it, but I called the play and brought it up not RT...

Actually holic, I feel NOW feel guilty about screaming so hard for the head of Sparano because he was so conservative that he just played for field goals and "fist pumped" when he got them

and then we turn around and get a reckless, POMPOUS, hard-headed idiot who doesn't know how to use talent and puts games up for grabs that are pretty much safely in our hands (at least when overtime being safely in our hands).

Yes, the OL needs to be fixed, but they aren't out there when the other team is completing passes to wide open receivers and allowing first downs on 3rd and 20+.

Chyren from my experience as a boss of many employees over the years.. Is that you cant undermine them and micro manage them.. You hire somebody to do the job, you let them. Sure they are going to stumble a few times on their own, but if you micromanage people you might as well not have employees. Just do it yourself... I understand the theory that a boss can over ride an employee's call at times but for the most part you have to hire good people and trust in them.. If they dont work out after failing to adapt, then, you find somebody else... If Philbin, is second guessing Sherman calling plays, then he should hire somebody else... Philbin has his own full plate to deal with, if he is doing Sherman's job then he is neglecting some part of his job.... Not good for an organization, there is structure and hierarchy for a reason...

My prediction
Bills - toss-up no prediction 3-2-(?)
@PAtriots - Loss 3-3- (?)
Bengals - WIN 4-3-(?)
@Buccaners - WIN 5-3-(?)
Chargers - Loss 5-4-(?)
Panthers - Loss 5-5-(?)
@Jets - Loss 5-6-(?)
@Steelers - Loss 5-7-(?)
Patriots - Loss 5-8-(?)
@Bills - toss-up no prediction 5-8-(??)
Jets - WIN 6-8-(??)

On the Bills games, if E J were playing QB, I would say these were losses.

If the coaching staff were to get religion, I'd say we'd lose to the Pats only once, lose to the Steelers and maybe only one of the Panthers and/or Chargers and would sweep the Jesters. Then either 10-6 or 11-5.

But like the Christmas Carol story says, as the Ghost of Christmas Future tells Scrooge, "if these things remain unchanged........I see an empty crutch by the fireplace."

I don't know for sure because Philbin forgot to call me in for his meeting with Sherman smoking smiley but I would "think" that Philbin has discussed the 3rd and 4th and short situations that the Fins had over the last two games and that they have to do something else. I am hoping that they at least discussed it. If I were Philbin and were in the situation again and Sherman called another outside run, I would quickly shut that play down and call something else.

But, as I said in a different post...."The buck stops here."
