I am not dissatisfied with Martin but I have questions based on the FO's reluctancy to bring in a RT. It says to me they are not convinced of Martin playing the blind side.

He was rated as one of the worst tackles in the league last year....somewhere around 76th out of 80 per PFF.

I personally think he is a better fit at LT and will be much improved with added strength....but much improved over 76th could still mean he struggles. I don't see a huge jump. Look at Pouncey. He was pretty good in his rookie year but after improvement he moved to one of the best in the league. I don't see Martin making a bigger improvement than Pouncey....relative to where he was in 2012.

For instance, Pouncey had a ranking of +2.9 after his rookie year but improved to be in the top 2 or three in the league.

Martin had a rating of -22. If he improves as much as Pouncey did from year one to year two, he will still be a mediocre tackle. He needs a meteoric rise to be among the leagues elite or to be a PB player.
