Watching NFL Network A Football Life "Ed Debartolo". And they tell a story of Debartolo's safety getting hurt, and losing the use of his arm. Jeff Fuller SR said Debartolo did what no owner does, and personally set up an annuity that would take care of him and his family for life.... Impressive story... The safety for the 49ers was our practice squad WR's with the same name Dad.... just thought i would share the story, and recommend the documentary...

Yeah he got caught up with the Governor of Louisiana, in a scheme to legalize gambling in that state, and was banned from the League, I believe his sister, who he didnt get along with very well, took over after he was banned...He has alot of family in south fla, I grew up with his nephew... Debartolo was a pretty powerful force in football before the NFL and ultimately his actions forced him out...As far as the Italian prejudice, he definitely always had rumors of ties to organized crime surrounding him and the LA deal didnt help his case with the NFL...

BNF I agree. I hope Jr gets it together also. He was once one of the top college WR prospects. Hopefully he works out, gets in shape, catches a 1000 passes and comes back looking like a Anquan Boldin type reveiver.
