Date: March 14, 2013 12:38PM Watching NFL Network A Football Life "Ed Debartolo". And they tell a story of Debartolo's safety getting hurt, and losing the use of his arm. Jeff Fuller SR said Debartolo did what no owner does, and personally set up an annuity that would take care of him and his family for life.... Impressive story... Date: March 14, 2013 01:13PM Yeah he got caught up with the Governor of Louisiana, in a scheme to legalize gambling in that state, and was banned from the League, I believe his sister, who he didnt get along with very well, took over after he was banned...He has alot of family in south fla, I grew up with his nephew... Debartolo was a pretty powerful force in football before the NFL and ultimately his actions forced him out...As far as the Italian prejudice, he definitely always had rumors of ties to organized crime surrounding him and the LA deal didnt help his case with the NFL... ----------------------------------------------------------------- All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.
