They are also interested in Brandon Gibson and Wes Welker. I would rather have Wallace.

I think gibson would cost 5-6mm per year, given what hartline just got. even dumping bess I can't see us signing gibson and wallance, way to much $$ for the WR position. we need a rookie or 2 in there for this to be cost effective. man it wouldn't be nice if we could've actually drafted more than hartlne over the past 10 years

I have this weird feeling in my stomach that Ireland thinks instead of paying Jake Long or an expensive tackle, he is better off drafting one of the top 3 guys at number 12... Pay the position 2 instead of 7-10 million... Not a bad plan on numbers, but it doesn't give me confidence he is going after one of the elite playmakers at 12...

crowder, problem is, who are the elite playmakers at 12?

regardless, jake isn't worth 10mm per year (or even 8) and I'd rather spend the money on a skill position player

I think the market for long is not what he thinks it is going to be and he will likely sign somewhere for 8mm per year plus incentives. question: would you sign him to that kind of deal?

There are no elite playmakers at #12.

There are a bunch of guys with huge question marks at nearly every position except OL.

I think you are right that we'd like to take an OT at #12 but Fisher, Joeckel and Johnson are likely to all be off the board.

Could be that we spend big in free agency on WR and TE and go heavy on Oline in the draft.

It makes sense because you can expect immediate returns from veteran WR's that you can't expect from rookies and rookie Olineman aren't only cheaper but that is one of the positions where they can make a very fast transition.

If we signed Wallace, Gibson and a TE I'd expect us to take Lane Johnson, Johnathan Cooper or Chance Warmack at #12.

Since Johnson and Warmack will likely be gone at that point, I'd guess Cooper at #12 and an OT with our 1st pick in round two...maybe Terron Armstead or Barrett Jones.
