The competition level isn't great but on tape he absolutely blows up everyone he goes up against and his athleticism is insane. Could be an option at guard if he can't stick at OT.

Wow that was impressive watching Patterson run like that for his size... I am sold on taking a shot on him... I am not so sure he is gonna still be available at 12...

Really?
Sold by a 40 yard dash?
All anyone had to do was watch his highlights to know he was going to run sub 4.4
All he did to day is what everyone expected him to do.
It would have been a story if he had not run sub 4.4
4.37 is fast...but it does nothing to answer the concerns some people have.
For his size, 4.37 is freakish.. Given his raw ability and potential yes I am sold.. If we can draft a QB for potential, then we sure can draft a WR for his potential as well.. He reminded me of a Brandon Marshall with elite speed.. Sign me up.. I like a guy with size, speed and playmaking a ability. I guess Mayock, Casserly, myself and others are all wrong about rating the guy so high... Truth on the phins board isn't impressed by the guy so forget about him at 12...lol... Unlike you and others, I never had any concerns about the Juco route..

Mayock also said that you'd better be sure you find out everything there is to know about him and his background since he only had one solid season at UT.

I never said he wasn't impressive. In fact, I've said the opposite and that I'd be very excited about him if we drafted him because he's a tremendous athlete. What I've actually been saying is that you have to do your homework on him because like it or not, an all-state HS player failing to get one single DI offer because he couldn't qualify is a red flag that HAS to be investigated and eliminated if you are going to draft him at #12.
You know, pretty much what Mike Mayock just said about him...
Sure you must do your homework on every player you intend to draft.. I personally like big, fast playmakers at WR..
IMO, the Juco route shows desire and ability to better himself.. Or he would never have made the leap from juco to div 1.. Mayock also said this guy is a top ten guy, but his lack of playing time, might not get him there..

It going to come down to how he interviews. If he is intelligent, mature and is able to adequately justify his route to the Div I then he is definitely a candidate for a top 15 pick.
The biggest question for me is "Why didn't he produce in college?" If he is so much better than Justin Hunter then why didn't he outperform Hunter? It could just be inexperience and not running all the routes as expected, getting open, reacting to coverage, etc.

Sherman should have some good insight on this kid..

yeah...he'll move up.
The only thing that could keep him out of round 2 is concern about his concussions.
Eesit- Hunter had 3 years in the offense, Patterson had one.. Patterson in his first year in the system had more yards then Hunter in his first 2 years in the system.. Patterson also had 1800 all purpose yards, so he was used more then hunter in other areas.. So he had less chances then Hunter in the WR game..

Truth- when I went back and looked at more highlights of Patterson looking for the speed.. It didn't really jump out at me.. What jumped out at me was his cut backs, field vision, making guys miss, breaking tackles, more then speed.. Not saying he looked slow, it just wasn't what jumped out at me..this guy is incredibly shifty for his size and speed.. He is still very raw, but I don't think he will have any problems getting off the line, that is for sure..
