I don't think we will be re-signing many of our own free agents. Lots of quality guys will be wearing another team's colors, but in the long run that is o.k.
I'm going to virtually strangle all the people on this board and off this board that "didn't want" Andrew Luck, because after all, a few wins are important. *sigh* I also loathe the Colts for tanking their season to get him.
Yep the Brady ship is sinking, I think the window has shut for him. I wonder who the Patsies take in this draft or perhaps next years draft to replace him.
One guy I really like that is flying sort of under the draft radar is Kevin Minter from LSU. He's got the instincts that you want in your NFL Linebacking corps. He is currently projected as a lower round 1 guy. If in the case of a trade down, I would love to have him instead of Burnett or Dansby.

I liked him as a potential middle linebacker draft choice prior to the scandal. I saw him as another but bigger Zach Thomas but given either his gullibility and/or, if he was not gullible, his flakiness shown by the scandal, also even if he is entirely innocent what the whole affair might have done to his psyche, no.

I would venture to guess that we sign (at the most) 3 of our own FAs.
Did anyone on this board seriously not want Luck? Or....were they just comparing Luck to RG III and saying they would prefer RG? I can't imagine anyone not wanting Luck.
I don't think the Brady ship is sinking. They are still the AFCE champs, and none of the other three teams can get close to them. Brady is still playing at a high level, and Belichik is still their coach. They already have Brady's replacement on board -- Mallet.
I wouldn't have a problem drafting Minter, but he would be backing up both Dansby and Burnett. The only way Minter starts is if he outplays either of them, and at a high degree. But, at the same time, if he does play that great, that just could push the other two to play even better than they have, for fear of losing their job.
Assure me that Tannehill, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and/or RGIII will remain healthy and given the same level OF OTHER TALENT AS A SUPPORTING CAST and I will take any of them over Andrew Luck.
And this is not just Cal Bear hatred of Stanford.
Yeah Luck is an excellent quarterback OF A PASSING BY-GONE ERA. This is a NEW AGE. Get used to it! Luck ain't nothing special.

Glad you bring that up. If Jim Harbaugh had "let Colin Kaepernick be Colin Kaepernick" on four attempts at 1st and goal at the 7 yard line behind by only 4 points, you wouldn't be asking that because Colin Kaepernick, not Joe Flacco, the traditional QB, would have been MVP of the Super Bowl.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda....Seriously. Until this new type of QB starts consistently winning Super Bowls, I will NOT deem this a "new age" of NFL QBs.

Luck may be nothing special in your eyes, Chyren, but to the FO and fans of the Colts, he is their wonderboy. The yardage he put up in the air and the number of wins the Colts got this year, along with getting to the playoffs....I would say that is pretty special.
I highly doubt that Luck is part of a by-gone era. Look around the NFL and what do you see? The majority of QBs are pocket passers. The "new generation" are QBs who are good runners, but can also pass. Guaranteed, the majority of these types of QBs spend more time in the pocket than they do running around. All one has to do is look at Vick and RG III. Teams have to be very cautious as to what their QBs are free to do. RG III may not be able to run as he did, and if Kaepernick goes down with a serious injury, teams' philosophy will quickly change. Those QBs are a team's bread-and-butter. Can't afford to have them on IR.
BTW, I'm not saying that only those QBs can get hurt.
Wait until NFL defensive coordinators get a full years worth of film on Wilson, Kaepernick RG III I thnk they will have declines in their second years like Cam Newton. I think Luck will get better.
