Next years game is in NJ at the Giants/Jets $1.5 Billion mausoleum.
If it goes off well there is talk of games in DC and possibly Chicago and Boston down the road.
I have only one issue with the idea, and its why I'm against them in the future. I think the cold weather puts some teams at competitive disadvantage.
I don't think there's any question that should we end up in a cold weather site playing a team like the Giants, Bears, Packers, etc that they would have a distinct advantage.
Not to say we couldn't win, just that the cold weather team gets an advantage of geography and that shouldn't happen in a title game.
The NFL mob is run by a tribe a greedy billionaires and they'd have the Stupid Bowl in Siberia if it made them big $$$.
Awarding Stupid Bowls as a quid pro quo kick-back for milking new NFL shrines out of local taxpayers etc. goes to show how the mob really operates. Show me the MONEY!
I hope the Stupid Bowl is under 10-feet of snow next February and has to be postponed indefinitely! That would be poetic justice IMO.

I think it makes sense financially.
A big city like NY or Chicago is built for an event like this.
And I think their ratings would go through the roof if they played the game in a snowstorm.
I agree with BNF that the NFL would play in Siberia if it meant more money.
I just wonder if they would risk the integrity of their title game just for the sake of adding a few big cities to their Super Bowl rotation?

Green Ban and New England now have heating systems in the turf that prevent the ground from freezing. Doesn't make the ground actually 'warm', but up into the 40F range. Not sure if all outdoor nothern stadiums have it now, but no more tundra!

NY and Chicago, yeah, but not Philadelphia!!!
Remember when they postponed a playoff game a few years back because it snowed?! Prompting one of the best quotes from an American leader in modern times, by Governor Rendell: "We have become a nation of wussies."

There may be a slight advantage if a cold weather team plays in NY, but to me, the main problem is if the weather turns bad, like about 5 hours before game time, then the fans will have a hell of a time getting to the stadium, and the stadium will also (probably) lose out on a lot of concession money.
Along with that, the Super Bowl "Experience" will also lose out with a week-long bad weather situation, as money cannot be spent if people are stuck indoors.

Remember the "Fog Bowl" in Chicago vs the Eagles, can't wait to see who's willing to sit thru that. The super bowl isn't played in front of true grit fans, its played in front of millionaires who like to be comfortable.

The Super bowl experience next year isn't at the stadium. I believe its at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.

Oh. Well in that case, we need to have the SB outdoors in Alaska...
Cold is cold. I'm not sure that it makes for better Super Bowls.
They will keep happening. In order to reward those cities that put up cash to build new stadiums... Goodell has let in known this is his bargaining chip...
If you have been to a super bowl, you know that it is as much about corporate sponsorships/extravagance and wild parties trying to outdo one another..... That doesnt translate so well to areas with cold weather and lack of out door space... So while it will always happen as a reward or bargaining chip "Cold Weather Super Bowls"... Goodell needs Miami and other enticing Super bowl destinations as much as they need him... Going to Miami is a good sell to anyone north of the bayou this time of year...

My old man has gone to the last twenty plus Super Bowls with a friend who puts on concerts during the super bowl week..He said the least enjoyable one was when it was in Minnesota years back... He said it was freezing cold and nobody went outside, so it didn't even feel like a Super Bowl week... If the places for the parties and event were not attached to the hotel by sky walks very few people went.. Promoters got crushed and corporations didn't see the value in investing into that type of events..

I've lived here on and off my whole life.
NEVER seen weather like this on such a consistent basis.
Last year we had a hurricane in August that knocked out power for 10 days. We followed that up with a Nor'easter with 14 inches of snow in mid-october which is the WORST because all the leaves are still on the trees. That knocked out power to the region for two weeks. This year we had Hurricane Sandy and it knocked out power for 2weeks (if you were lucky) for most but 2 months for others. Now we have a blizzard with 30-50 mph winds and 12-24 inches of snow. But at least the power is on...for now.
In the 40_ years of my life I've lived in the greater NYC area, we might have had one storm like that every decade or two.
Be safe Truth, Curt, JC, and others going through the nasty weather up north... No fun dealing with Mother Nature at times...

Yeah...I've heard the same. Minnesota sucked.
But this is NYC. Very few of the events will be at the game site leading up to the game.
Almost all of them will be in NYC which has the mass transit system to allow visitors to go out every night, even in a blizzard.
I'd imagine Chicago to be similar.
Boston wouldn't work. Bad weather would cripple the city and the ability of visitors to go out...plus foxborough is almost an hour away.

Thanks Crowder.
we'll be ok. Went out and got a generator after last years Hurricane/October snow storm.
I hope the power stays on, because too many people don't have one, but if it goes off we'll be ok.
Henry, It always has been "Climate Change" brought upon by "Global Warming". Most people don't realize that warming of the oceans results in increased evaporation, more moisture in the atmosphere results in increased precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and, rain which forces cooler air down from the stratosphere. Ice ages are the indirect result of Global Warming. Stay warm guys. Go Phins
NYC could thrive for the Super Bowl with the right weather.. But most New Yorkers would probably rather be in Miami instead...

Berk- He went with a promoter that puts on shows attached to the Super Bowl. The side shows and corporate sponsor shows.. In the past everyone from Whitney Houston, Jay Z to Garth Brooks.. they went for probably 25 years.. They are older now and haven't been invovled the last 2-3 years.. I got to go a few years back in Miami, the total experience blew my mind, especially with the extravagance the corporate tents. You need passes for certain tents...I watched the black crowes perform to me and about ten people that were paying attention in some corporate tent.. Then I went to another one and kiss was running around..all of the biggest corporations in America are trying to out do one another in their tents... It is borderline on overboard/obnoxious..

And what was the cause of the first ICE AGE, before there were exhaust fumes?
The Earth has always undergone cyclical changes in the atmosphere when the Warm water currents have cause changes that, it is speculated, wiped out European inhabitants of America (living on the east coast) who came over from Iceland and Greenland before the "Native Americans" (who were actually of Asian descent) came to the continent from the West. These were called "Paleolithic (and yes Indians" even though this is 10,000 years before Columbus ever set eyes on the Asiatic people we now call Native Americans who he mistakenly believe were residents of India).
We used to also have Saber tooth Tigers, dire wolves and short faced bears.
Point is that the Earth has always experienced these shifts in climate and they can be drastic. The Ice Age itself was blamed on something concerning the change of the weather pattern in the Atlantic ocean.
