MattI retweeted that Stephen Ross met with Mike Giddy Jr from pro scouts inc about a GM position... Payneinsider.com I believe started the tweet.. Not sure what this all about or what the meeting was about but thought I would pass on unexpected rumor that has been gaining legs...

While I don't believe it, it would fall into Ross's wheel-house of interviewing someone for a position before it's actually available

I imagine there is some truth to the meeting but who knows what the meeting was really about.. It is easy for whoever reported it to jump to conclusion about what went on... I agree though that this is not out of the realm of possibilities for Ross... Maybe Ross is asking to hire him as a consultant for this all important year to give him contrasting insight into what Ireland wants to do with FA and draft...

With the extra picks I am not sure we can afford another year of jeff Ireland selections unless someone else acting as a consultant approves them

probably to discuss the 2013 draft. I can see that more so than him becoming the GM

btw, who is mike gidding jr? never heard of him. I don't think we are replacing Ireland this offseason (last year was clearly the time to do it) and if we do, I can't see Ross hiring anyone but a "big name" since he is so clueless about football

Matti is the founder of the phinsiders... Payneinsider is a local miami handicapper, espn radio host... The handicapper is the guy reporting it.... Handicappers are normally good at inside info but who knows...

I know some will be crushed that this turns out to be nothing more than an Internet rumor run amuck:

Truth- I could go on and give you a hard time about selective posting of what Beasley said but I will not.. I will just post the rest of the tweet from Beasley about speaking to Gidding
"When I asked Gidding if he has spoken with anyone in the Miami Dolphins organization about coming on as a consultant, he declined comment" funny how critical you are to others when something is left out but oblivious to the fact you do it all the time....

It is also convenient that he clarifies his statement by saying he didn't meet with Ross this week... Not that he has never spoken to Ross about the GM position or any position just that he hasn't spoken with him this week... I don't think the whole thing is just an Internet rumor that came out of nowhere, and Gidding surely didn't address it that way either....

Say whatever u like crowder. I don't follow Beasley and merely posted the ENTIRE retweet from salguero before a meeting.

I didn't selectively cut and paste anything. Just passed in what I saw.

Thing is...I wondered why he specified "this week" but didnt see a follow up on it so I didn't think twice about it.

Guess ill have to add Beasley to my twitter list.

But think about it, someone didn't just pull the name Mike Gidding Jr randomly to create a rumor and then have the guy in question respond in such an ambiguous way IMO.. Something went on with this guy and Ross/ dolphins.. As we all know Mr Ross's private meeting always seem to wind up public... And then damage control ensues... Or as others pointed out the Dolphins denied any truth to the Vontae trade rumor up until it happened... If Ross had this guy sign a confidentiality agreement which I imagine he would, this guy could not tell you the truth even if he wanted to...

Where did I ever say we had to dump Tannehill? Once again, a legit criticism of the QB has gotten conflated into me want to dump him, and being my only focus.

As for Ireland, I'm not the only one who thinks he should go....
