Two Tight ends that I like in next years draft are playing in Bowls today.

Ryan Otten 6'6" 240 San Jose State
Travis Kelcie 6'6" 260 Cincy

right now they are projected for the 6 rnd. I think both of them are a steal there but people are starting to notice them.Check them out if you watch the games.

We don't need an effective receiver at TE, we need a dangerous one.

I think Jason Witten is a bit more than efficient.

Fasano would be much better if we had a deep threat at WR.

Fasano would be much better if he was our #2 TE. Good hands. Good blocker. Zero speed and quickness.

Fasano suffers because of our "red zone" offense. There were a couple of recent articles with comments from analysts that our offense operates as if it's in the red zone the entire length of the field. Everything is compressed to within 10-15 yards from the line of scrimmage, because we don't attack defenses deep. And that shrinking of the offense makes for a major lack of space in the short middle of the field. That congestion doesn't do Fasano any favors.

Didn't Fasano drop a TD pass early in the season that helped cost us a win? Or am I thinking of the pre-season?

As long as he is very athletic, fast, can consistently beat LB's and get down the seam, as well as can catch in traffic I'm all for him.

I just want a real, dangerous threat at TE...a Winslow Sr., Gronkowski, Gonzalez kind of guy.

Guaranteed Fasano isn't going anywhere.

However, from what went on during the season, if the type of TE is there for Miami either in the late 2nd round or one of the two picks in the third, Miami will grab a TE.

Clay didn't do much and Egnew never (really) saw the field. Evidently, Sherman is just throwing a bunch of words around concerning Egnew.

If they draft their TE and he pans out, say goodbye to those two.

Too bad about Clay, as I thought this offense would really let him thrive. I still believe he had a tough time with learning the playbook and his blocking assignments. He brings something that no one else on our current roster really does in terms of an ability to stretch the seam (and other routes) and get into the end zone. I really appreciate the career year Hartline is having and Bess was having prior to his injury, but Clay turned 2 of his 18 catches into TDs while they combined for 2 TDs on 130 catches.

It seems our team has a logjam of good but not good enough TEs. I have always liked Fasano, but he has probably topped out. Clay still has potential, I think...but I'm not in practices and meeting rooms where coaches get to see the mental side of his game.

I gaurantee if we let Clay go another team will show us what we could have done w/ him.

I agree. The philosophy of our coaching staff seems to be

"Draft players but only play them IF YOU HAVE TO BECAUSE OF INJURY."
