based on the mock this could be an all time weak draft. he's got like 15 DTs going in the 1sr round and almost no skill position players. this is not the draft to be needing a qb

But weren't there people saying that if Barkely and L Jones came out last year we would of never taken Tanny? I thought those 2 guys were all-world, cant miss prospects?????????

Good point. Now they are low 1st and 2nd round picks. Even Geno Smith is rated as the best overall prospect by most people. Things will change again in a few months.

Eesti I think the rams have multiple 1sts

Oh yeah that's right. It was for the RG3 trade.

I mentioned it as a thought for a potential trade partner.

They are in prime position. It would be nice if they fall in love with someone where we pick.

Right now they are set for #16 and #20. This may be a great spot to grab two of my three top positions to fill....Even better if the Rams and Redskins lose a few more games.

Tyler Eifert, Jake Mathews, Terrance Williams.

Beyond those players in that range I like Chance Warmack OG and Jonathon Banks CB.

Warmack is supposed to be the best guard prospect since Steve Hutchinson...better than David DeCastro.

Can you imagine walking out of the draft with T. Williams AND Tyler Eifert? They need an OT and a WR. Maybe Lewan or Keenan Allen is there when we pick and we can make a move.

Or since they have the same need as we do (OT and WR) maybe they take both with their picks. Damn it!

It's a post-Parcellian, post-apocalyptic "ground hog" day:

we pick an OT R1.

Yawn.

Jake Long's NFL "career" is

DONE. It's Oh

hhhhhhhh-vah. Finito.

HGH or bust...

has it ever worked out that a highly touted QB stayed in school and didn't hurt his prospects? Leinert, Barkley, Brian Brohm, etc. So dumb. I think people were starting to sour on Jones even last year, though.

We are now in the 13th spot. I am betting we win vs Buf and lose vs NE leaving us at 7-9.

We will fall one spot to 14th if the Jets lose to the Titans tonight.

Vernon plays the weak side. Wake plays the strong side.

It does take pass rushers time to develop. But, you can also never have enough of them. So, I don't know that taking a pass rusher is ever a bad move. Look at when people criticized the Giants for taking Jason Pierre-Paul when they already had the league's best pass rush. How'd that work out for the Giants?

I will say that pass rush is not as big a weakness for us as it is perceived. While no one other than Wake has stood out, the Fins are tied for 5th in the NFL with 39 sacks, only 4 behind the league lead. Of course, if anything happened to Wake, we'd be in serious trouble. So, if you can add another high quality pass rusher to him, it's not a bad decision at all. Even if it isn't the most pressing need.

I think that's reversed. Wake has played the weak side since he got here. I'm not aware that we've moved him. He's our top pass rusher...so he SHOULD be on the weak side.

Odrick plays WDE in the base.

No. We experimented with Wake on the weak side when he first got here, but he was too uncomfortable with it. He always played on the strong side in the CFL, and he is just more comfortable coming from that side.

The strong side is the side of the offense where the TE is, which is next to the Right Tackle (in most cases). It's called the strong side because they have 3 blockers on that side, including the TE. The weak side is protected by the LT. Most of the elite pass rushers are guys who rush from the weak side, but that is not the case for us. It's actually one reason why Wake doesn't get all of the forced fumbles that JT used to get. Because he is coming from the strong side, the QB usually sees him.

It's actually a really good situation when you think about. Wake, an elite pass rusher, is getting to go up against the RT, who is usually not as good a pass protector as the LT.

Yep you're right. I just watched the Jag game again. He was always playing the RT.
