This is a very strange Dolphins season. Over the decades I have been a fan, this team usually starts hot and ends cold (most seasons are like this) or starts cold and ends hot but then they choke (fewer seasons are like this).
This season they started lukewarm, then got hot, then they started to get a lot of press and hype, and almost as soon as the articles started about what was expected to be a VERY bad team "possibly making the playoffs", they collapsed. They gave up in the second half against Indianapolis and have failed to show up ever since. They didn't show up to the Titans game. They didn't show up last nite.
Does anyone know whether something has happened in the locker room? What do you guys make of this?
It's coaching. When good players play bad, when bad players stay bad, when decisions are made in close games as to playcalling that LOSES close games, it's all on coaching.
The reason that people are expressing frustration is the very question you asked and that is why.
Tannehill came to this team with believers, doubters, and critics.
However, Philbin came to this team like Cleopatra being carried on two poles by slaves.
People applauded his "GET TOUGH" attitude in Hard Knocks.
He had never been a Head Coach before but everyone saw him as the next Vince Lombardi.
He sucks! Big time. He has players playing WELL BELOW their level of proficiency and making the same mistakes time and time again.
He tries to use Reggie Bush like Larry Csonka and not like Sparano did by sending him out on pass patterns out of the backfield.
He is ridiculously RADICAL in his playcalling as Sparano was ridiculously conservative.
If I could change one thing about the team it would be his coaching.
Now I've said it and let the slaves who follow him come out and attack me. Particularly the lie....errr I mean the Truth.
BTW, Philbin never even had a head coaching job in college although he was a coach at many very small colleges.
From Wikipedia, list of Philbin's coaching jobs. None head coach except
