The good news: Ireland traded a crappy player. The bad news: Ireland drafted said player in the 1st round (passing over H Nicks and C Matthews to do so).
Yay!! Ireland rulez!!

The draft is a lottery..
Then he hit on
Lamar Miller
Jorvorskie Lane smart enough to keep him around. not drafted.
Mike Pouncey
Jonathan Martin
Jared Odrick
Cameron Wake smart enough to bring him here. not drafted.
Sean Smith smart enough to let vontae bust go and keep smith
And many more..
Ireland has made good moves as well. I will give him next draft to make final judgement on ireland.
this team is almost playoff material with a few tweaks..next year.

Then why in the hell do you keep hating on Ireland because of it??!!
Because he didnt let him call his Memaw right that second upon hearing the news?
Because he wanted to keep it professional, and wanted to be honest with him about why they wanted to cut ties, and give him some constructive critism??
I thought he handled it beautifully. Get off him!!

Smith, although he will be a FA next year and we will have to overpay to keep him.
But it is irrelevant to my point, which is that to the extent Davis sucks, he was till Ireland's pick in the FIRST ROUND so I can't see how you can give Ireland props for picking a dud

Too bad,SoCalPhin, you didn't go back and read that prior thread.
Yeah, you got me right. I know you're a tough football guy and you like the way Ireland "sacked" him in that interview and let him know that the reason he was being traded was that he wasn't "up to snuff" that that made you feel good just like a linebacker hitting a quarterback.
You got me right and I got you right.
You probably justify the "was your mother a crack whore" question too.
You're right. He was just a crybaby that wanted to call his momma.
Let's just hope that he doesn't get his 'PAYBACK' when we play the Colts. He's probably studying Tannehill film every night.
All for nothing. All to feed his (and yours too SoCalPhin) need to be MACHO!
Berk, i'm not so sure using H Nicks as an example really holds water anymore with his recent injury history. If Ireland would of taken him, people would of chastised him for drafting an oft injured WR. The guy really can't win with the fan base in Miami.
Vontae may be out for this weeks game. He sprained his knee in the Titans game.
He has 19 tackles, 1 pass defense, 0 ints so far this year.
Carroll, 25, a fifth-round draft pick in 2010, has 22 tackles while allowing just 18 completions out of 36 passes thrown his way, with no touchdowns, according to Pro Football Focus
Incidentally, Davis, now playing for the Colts, has allowed a league-high 85.7 percent completion rate, or 12 of 14. PFF ranks Smith the 24th-most efficient cornerback in the league, with Carroll right behind at 25th.
If Vontae is hurt and not playing, there's no point to this discussion.
However, if he does,I'm reminded of a Twilight Zone episode where a down on his luck fighter learns that his agent has bet against him in the upcoming fight.
The fighter grabs his agent by the collar and pulls back his fist and says, "I may be a bum out there in the arena when I fight that other guy but I'm going to fight a world champion fight against you right here and now."
That's Vontae playing against us in our upcoming game.
Save all your boastful statistics for the GAME.
I mean, who are you guys trying to convince with these statistics, yourself?
You can't get it through your thick heads as I posted above that I did NOT criticize the move, just the way Ireland ran his mouth.
It was unnecessary and IS NO DIFFERENCE FROM THE BULLSH_T THE JETS TALKED ALL LAST WEEK LEADING US TO WHIP THEIR As_ES 30-SOMETHING LOW!
But the problem is that a lot of you hated Vontae and was glad when he was let go he was told he was not good enough. Just pure haters. Probably jealous that he makes so much money as a pro player and you guys don't.
It's STUPID!!! IT was an unnecessary insult.
Which of you think that Don Corleone would have approved of the way that Ireland handled that?????????
As a team you can't tolerate a player that does not pull his weight or, one that thinks he's so great that he only needs to give 90 percent. It's not fair to the rest of the team. Good riddance.

Fine. Good riddance. No problem with that. But when you have traded him and got a 2nd rounder for him, why insult him.
Maybe you can answer that question Hooligan because you were not part of the original discussion.
Why insult him?
What do YOU gain by insulting him?
What did the Jets gain by insulting us and Reggie?
I guess nobody going to answer that question.
You are all stuck on the elementary school question of "Duh....was it good to trade Vontae."
That's not the question. The question was the mouth of "Was your mother a crack whore" Ireland.
I didn't watch Hard Knocks so, I can't comment on whether it was an insulting exchange or not. I doubt that Vontae is such an overwhelming talent that he would have any great impact on the outcome of the game anyhow. We are a better team without him so, bring it on.
So, you would have preferred for Ireland to lie to Vontae, puff up his inflated ego and send him off to the Colts to continue doing what got him bounced out of Miami. I don't have any kids so maybe I'm missing something akin to a "tender spot". I have had to fire grown men and send them back to the union hall and I have found that the better approach is to level with them in a professional manner as to why they are being fired without bringing up their mothers past and hope that a professional character gene exists which strives to improve upon that which got them fired. You don't belittle them, don't talk down to them, maintain eye contact and don't cut the conversation short. I've never had any feedback from the union halls.
But you're not firing him. Had you been firing him, you would be absolutely correct. Vontae was being traded. That makes A BIG DIFFERENCE.
Suppose in your job you are trading that' employee's contract to another competitor where he will be competing with you?
Had Vontae been BEING CUT,...........I would agree with everything you said.
It was none of our business (like Tom Hagen told Sonny Corleone "Even the killing of your father was business... we shouldn't do it because IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSINESS!"
You don't piss off someone who is going to be your competitor.
Vontae was ALREADY AN INDIANAPOLIS COLT when the conversation took place.
Preaching to him was 1) none of our business and 2) counter productive if he decides that the message was essentially, "You're not good enough to be on this team."
Too bad we're going to lose this Sunday because Ireland didn't let Vonte call his Grammy in the middle of an important business meeting.
Now Vonte is going to be a one man wrecking crew, with at least 3 pick 6-es. And I'm sure he'll completely shut down the entire passing attack..., and the running game for that matter, with vengeful intensity!!
Don't know about you guys, but I'm picking up the Colts' DST in all my FF leagues for this week.
If Ireland would have only treated him like a baby instead of a grown professional!! Damn him!!
