Amazes me how people will buy this when Tannehill has yet to do ANYTHING of note.

He had one good passing game against a poor passing defense, and still lost the game due to turnovers he made.

I get why people like Gil Brandt write columns like that. The NFL likes to make stars, regardless of talent. Go back a few years ago and look at people that were writing stuff like that about Sanchez.

Some of you are blinded by the hype. Look at Tannehill's stats. They aren't that good. His mistakes costs us two games, and people are blaming those on a kicker that can't make low percentage field goals.

Some of you are all Tanneheill crazy. But Tannehill isn't the entire team, and when you look at his role on the team, it isn't nearly as important as some seem to thing.

Right now the team is at .500, not above. Tannehill's passing rating is in the 70s. His 4th quarter splits are ugly. The running game and defense have been winning the games. And all anyone can do is talk about how great this QB is. Objectively, hes not that great.

If you actually read what people say about RT (not fans on this site)...nobody is saying he is great RIGHT NOW. They are saying he is VERY impressive and he has the makings of a future star.

Fans around here like to get overly enthused and optimistic about him but so what. You (and a few others) would think they were raving about a Jets QB the way you attack everyone who sings his praises.

But hell, I guess you THINK you know more than Jon Gruden, Gil Brandt, Kurt Warner, Lombardi, Heath Evans, Joe Philbin, Mike Sherman and just about every other NFL personality. They all see good things in him. I have never heard ANYONE with any credibility say he was a caretaker or a role player.

And then there are the other people around here that don't want to acknowledge his ability that say he is only doing well because he plays in the same system as college.

There are PLENTY of other QB's around the NFL that have sat or even played for several years that STILL have not adapted to the game. There's a hell of a lot more to it than just learning the offense. They have to also learn all of the NFL defenses and adjust to the speed of the game and not get rattled every time they face pressure. Something which some QB's never do.

As a matter of fact, RT excels under pressure. No he is not great right now but he is playing better and more impressive than many starters around the league.

And they all are saying he is the 2nd best rookie QB right now. Ron Jaworski and Merrill Hoge both ranked RT right behind RG3 so far.



But wait.... Tannehill sucks. He is not a star. He will be a bust.

I've said this many times. Yet when I point out that Tannehill (not the kicker) is more responsible for the losses, and when I point out that Tannehill has areas in his game where he needs improvement - people on this board get all up in arms and start calling me a troll and threaten to get me "banned" and such.

Whatever.

The fact is, people are heaping a lot of expectations on the kid. They are not even seeing the possibility that some of these expectations may not ever be met. When they do, what I'm writing will look like I'm defending Tannehill not trolling.

It's just that you wouldn't remember reading anything that I wrote that was remotely positive about Tannehill.
