I don't believe there's any chance that fuller beats out Roberto Wallace at this point.
I think we go with:
Bess
Hartline
Naanee
Pruitt
Wallace
Moore or hogan.
I think they try to stash fuller, Matthews a Cunningham on the practice squad and one gets poached.
chances are we pick one up when first cuts come. You know there is better talent out there on a team stacked with WR's. Good thing we are early in line for waivers.
Naanee has been dropping lots of balls lately in practice.
Clyde looked good in practice today after returning from hammy.
We need help. I don't think "ankle weights" Wallace (coaches term) makes the team unless he has a couple more big PS games.
Hartline injury sux. He is better than Naanee IMO. Could have used the off season work though.

I think he Wallace thing is overrated and a bit of a product of hbo editing.
Keep in mind those comments came prior to last weeks game (we don't know when) and he was our leading receiver on Friday so he was getting open.
Can't see us cutting a guy with his upside in his 3rd year after making good progress just because he's not quite there yet.
I don't recall hearing fuller making any plays this offseason. I highly doubt he gets kept over wallace, moore, or pruitt. and I think Rishard Matthews (can return kicks) or Cunningham makes it over him too.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
I want to love Wallace but the kid is missing something... He's in his 3rd year and the coaching staff is still trying to get to his "potential." Yea, the dude looks like a monster... and comes to play now and then. But I think consistency wins (essential in this system) and too many ups and downs = you’re gone.
If Wallace brings it consistently he’ll make the team. But I think he’s proven to be inconsistent and that will be the deciding factor. My opinion of course.
Last, if it’s really close (say between Fuller and someone like Wallace) I think Fuller gets the benefit of the doubt because he’s (a) younger and (b) has more upside on his growth curve.
Regretfully guys like Wallace and Moore have not “taken charge” and claimed a spot, and that means other dudes deserve the chance.
It will be interesting to watch things unfold. My hope is that a few guys bubble-up to the top and make the decisions rather obvious. Right now it’s definitely too foggy because no one seems to be really taking charge. That opens the door for a surprise or two.
To be honest, I’m more concerned/bummed with the news about the TEs. Egnew looks like a bust right now. I had high hopes for the kid but so far he’s too dumb for the Pros.

I dont know what type of receveiver cunningham is but from what i saw in the first pre season game he catches everything thrown to him and is not afraid to get hit.
I really hope we dont put him on the practice squad and another team signs him.
I know we have some receivers with potential and a couple of gems might get away though.
JUst hoping the coaches make the right decisions as far as who they keep.
Maybe they can keep 6 receiver this year. I think they ussualy keep 5.

You certainly won't see Cunningham jumping around like a scared pheasant trying to make catches the way Johnson was. Cunningham is pretty tough footballer and isn’t afraid of contact underneath and/or over the middle. His college production was very good and the kid is a gamer. The “knock” on him is the lack of explosiveness and top gear. But he’s a capable receiver otherwise, and the dudes with the best physical chops are not always the best players. The NFL is overly infatuated with physical specs and often misses the simple point is a player is a REAL PLAYER or just a fancy physical specimen.
It’s really something how so many coaches and especially personnel guys are in love with certain attributes like 6 4 220 4.5 speed 3 cone monster with long pinky nails. And then you look at guys like Zack or Welker or Bess or whoever isn’t the perfect prototype and all these guys do is play at a high level.
I think Cunningham is more like a 4.6 guy than 4.4...
He's definitely NOT a burner but has decent play speed and obviously young legs. Getting open is more important anyway and then (our big problem?) you gotta catch the pig!

Oronde gadsgen was prove that getting open is more important than speed.
Now the complete opposite of Oronde gadsgen is someone like clyde gates. Who is is jeaopardy of not making the phins team even though we do not have any good receivers.
How can he be a 4.6 guy if he ran a 4.47? It's a gauge of straight line, no pads, speed. There is no measure of speed for padded players on a football field.
Maybe Gates needs to get some pointers from Hogan.

I think you are born with the gift......you either get open or you do not.
Not every player has that ability thats why so many players with 4.4 speed get cut.
I think getting open might be more teachable than lets say teaching a pitcher to throw 99 MPH....Now thats imposible...
But i think it applies to both....Again You have to be born with the gift.

The only reason Oronde was ever open was because CBs couldn't cover the space 10 feet over his head. Oronde succeeded because he was big, had a tremendous vertical leap, and had hands like glue. We have no one to compare to him now..unfortunately,

How can you doubt Legedu? He is kicking ass in preseason so far with 1 reception for 12 yards.
