Undrafted Free Agents Look Good.

Looking back at the game, two youngsters stood out on defense to me. Both Kheeston Randall and Derrick Shelby held up well against the run and managed a little pressure on the quarterback. Offensively, the rookie center, Josh Samuda appeared to play very well.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many undrafted free agents become good players. For all the work NFL scouts put in, how do guys like this go undrafted?

I think that the answer is:

So many players and so little time, thus the door gets open to some guys getting the press review vs actual on site by the scouts.

The second piece is that some guys get and respond to good coaching in camps and really progress.

Bess is a good example, and coming from Hawaii, less onsite visibility, but he made the best of it when he walked on at Miami

Not to mention Trusnick...this kid played like he really wants to make the team.

I think you are mixing up Les Brown and Charles Clay. Clay played football at Tulsa.

Brown was a basketball player at BYU who became an accountant and now is trying to become a TE.

Randall was a draft pick (7th rd).

This is Jason Trusnik's 7th season in the NFL. He actually started for the Browns at times over the years.

I'm more concerned about how our drafted players look.

If we have undrafted players beating out drafted players, it doesn't reflect well on the management.

Miami Dolphins. Always Perfect.

Yeah...because I'm sure the guys who played bad don't really want to make the team eye rolling smiley
