Ireland took a lot of heat because he did the right thing,( he kept his cards close to the vest).
Most of the media and a lot of this board wanted to crucify him, because he didn't communicate what they wanted to hear, nor placate their anxiety about getting a good QB in FA, Manning, Flynn, coaching search etc on and on.
Now that the draft is done he can communicate more ... too bad the media and fans wore him out so bad, because his silence is part of what made the right things happen.
- Didn't overpay for flynn
- Didn't overcommunicate a lust for Tannehill, thus others didn't jump ahead of us.
- Did his homework up front, personally on Tannehill
- Didn't crumble under the public outrage from people who were calling for his head.
Glad to see you coming around on him, I think he's going to end up being a great pick.

I agree that Ireland is "coming across more natural". He definitely seems more comfortable and at ease. Before, he bit his lips a lot and came across like he was trying to be tough, but was really afraid. He seemed arrogant too. Honestly, I think he has been coached, like a politician, in talking to the media.
Also, while he "didn't over-communicate his lust for Tannehill", the way things were playing out, it became obvious to me. As soon, as we expressed minimal interest in Matt Flynn, I knew we were going hard after Tannehill. In one of these threads, I even stated that I was even more sure that the Phins would draft Tannehill, than I was them drafting Pouncey last year. There was very little doubt in my mind.

He feels good about things. That's fine. But the results MUST support his optimism. I'm betting (hoping) this draft was his best, by a substantial margin. But if they results don’t show immediately then he needs to go. Too much baggage to keep around…

I dont really agree with you, everybody and their mother had us taking Tannehill...That didnt just come out of thin air.... We also will not know if he did the right thing for a while, so saying he did is kinda of counting your eggs before they hatch... All I said is I like his conviction and or confidence, but at the end of the day, conviction and confidence doesnt mean squat with out results... I am not coming around on Ireland, I belive Ireland is coming around and trying to not be such a pompous ass.. Also in case you missed it, he missed on Peyton Manning, they wanted him and Manning didnt want to come to this organization.. What would have happened to Tannehill if we signed Peyton Manning? Nothing gets Ireland and Ross out of the pickle they have placed themselves in, without results.end of story... While I liked his conviction and not being so caustic with his personality, I would not read as much into it as you have... I give credit where credit is due, and i also hold those accountable for their previous decisions and actions...
At the end of the day, results, results, results it what matters to me...

It's everyone's perception that is changing. Was he a little more loose in that interview? Sure but that is more likely just from feeling good about a draft where he believes they "killed it.". I doubt it's a reflection of any steps he's intentionally taken to improve his personality.
He's like anyone else. When things aren't going well you are a bit more surly and tense. When they are going well you are a bit more cheerful and relaxed.
I think all you've got here is a glimpse into what Ross likes about the guy. That is to say he's not the complete prick some fans think he is. But he is guarded, focused and very good at the non PR components of his job.
Either way, it's nice to see people that have killed him for months view him in a different light. Imagine how much they'll like him when/if Tannehill turns into a franchise qb and/or we start wining again.
Can't wait for the "we are sorry" airplane banner and the 15 strong protest outside of Ross country club demanding he extend Ireland's contract. Lol....
of course truth of course, it is all of us,it is all of us, who changed...lol Again, your little words "if" enables you to day dream.. SHould I day dream in response, i will stay with the actual truth. The Spin Doctor is my new nick name for you
Spin Doctor-
I think he tried to act the way Parcells would handle the media, and that was having a negative impact on how alot of the public viewed the organization. When Ireland kept his job this year, with Ross, and all of the heat Ireland was deservedly getting and bringing down on the organization. Ross said we are gonna be different more transparent, etc., owners calling upset fans, that Ross had to deal with on behalf of bashing Ireland. etc. Ireland got the memo on the new public relations direction of the organization. I mean come on, we have one of the most hated GM's by all of the league, and an owner who also is not looked at in the best of light, nationally nor locally.. Being contentious doesnt make you many fans, or make you much money, especially if you are not winning. Ross's business, once the pride of south florida, has been over taken in the minds of many fans by THe Heat, new Marlin stadium in Miami, even the Panthers Hockey making the playoffs. So I would say pressure from the owner, to change the perception of the management... sincerely,

Crowder, I agree with your position that Ross instructed Ireland to try and be more PR friendly, but I don't agree with the statement that Ireland is one of the most hated men in "all of" the league.
A handful of spurned ex-players is really all that have ever bashed the guy, and he was part of 3 or 4 trades in the draft 2 weeks ago, so i'm not really seeing the league-wide black ball that some have suggested either.
The national Dez bryant situation. Ryan Clark very public words about him. WHy would Clark bother, unless he really felt that way. Every player heard about that, and believed what they wanted. The deal when him and Ross, took off trying to hire Harbaugh, behind Sparanos back, him suriving the axing last year. how he has handle the YB situation, WIll Allen last year, even crowder. How many players speak out against GM's not many, but Ireland takes as much heat publicly from players as any GM has over his short 4 year career. And Ross has taken the heat off of Dan SNyder... sad but true

You really should block me. I'm not interested in nonsense you have to spew, nor the myopic view that generates such crappola.

Sure you can.
You just close your eyes and refuse any information contrary to. The conclusions you've drawn.
