Was thinking a little while ago about what a difference a year makes. You could make a case for all 3 really;

Coaching staff - will the WC Offensive minds of Philbin/Sherman offset the loss of Nolan? Or will Coyles expertise in the def. backfield pay dividends with our young safetys?

QB - Even without Tannehill, IMO we are leaps and bounds better(on paper anyway) then we were a year ago, Moore was an unknown commodity and Henne was.....well Henne. The fact that we have a better feel for Moore, and Garrard is an upgrade over Henne is enough to vote for this one, add in the addition of a very talented young prospect to get excited about and this might be the most improved position to date.

O-line - NO COLUMBO! Enough said? Needless to say, if Martin isn't a huge upgrade over Columbo, this draft will be a disappointment, curious to see who our RG will be, and how well this unit jels this year.

I think we downgraded the WR position (in the short term anyway), and lost some def. depth along the line, if some of these young draftees perform well, these areas could be the biggest surprises, but for now I think it's the above three. Thoughts?

I have no clue about coaching. Well, I know Sherman is brilliant and he will show that he is one of the top 5 OC's in the league. But as far as Philbin as a HC and our DC....I have no clue.

The one area I know without a shadow of a doubt was upgraded was the QB position. David Gerrard alone is an upgrade over Henne, but not only that (according to Gil Brandt) we drafted the 4th best prospect in the entire draft as our future QB.

I said coaching simply because I think Sparano was a terrible HC. How can Philbin be worse?

Coaching Staff. Sparano sucked. I couldn't believe he was retained after 2010.

You know i was going to say RB is lamar miller stays healthy...IMO we got a gem in the UM rb drafted i saw him play a few times and he was definetely way above average in college. and reggie bush will excell if we can finnaly fix the OL....So if the RB from UM works out and miller stays healthy bush doing his thing behind an improved line this could be the most improved position from last year.

Agreed 100 percent. Our guards $uck! The jury still out on last year rookie center and long needs to prove he can stay healthy once and for all.

Agree with the inital post that its more than one area, and credit to the Ireland and the draft team for that. We hit on a lot of areas.
By Priority:

1. Coaching if I have to pick feels the biggest delta for me. I believe just from interviews that we are dealing with a much more intelligent man in Philbin, add in Sherman and it looks like a smarter team, that may be able to develop talent - Sure hope so.
- I hate having lost or DC, buty hear good things about our new on Coyle I think. Not too familiar.

2. QB is a huge upgrade not just because of Tannehill, but because of not having Sparano as an offensive control freak afraid to let a QB play with freedom. I think he ruined Henne.

- I also love the power of having a no huddle offense (Tannehill did it most of the time for A&M), and after watching what NE does with it, I look forward to having that when needed. It wears defenses down and manages audibles better. You have to trust your QB and not be a control freak to do that!
- Tannehill has the noodle for it too.
- Listen to the gruden school thing on him if you want to get into it.

3. I think we have a huge potential upgrade at the TE position
- New FA speedster from walk on after basketball
- Draft Pick, & unsigned FA
- WCO offense that can effectively use the position

4. OL
- Picking Martin #2 made a statement
- Another year , Pouncy will be better
- Jake is healthier

5. RB - with west coast offense Both Reggie & Miller will be a lot to handle

6. Secondary has some new pieces from FA that may help a lot

Weaknesses:

1. WR still needs to be seen
2. Pass rush TBD

So, the real question is.....

Does Tannehill end up with more passing yards or recieving yards??
