assuming this chart is what teams would follow (debatable but it is a starting point at least), to move up from #8 to #3 which some folks are actually floating as a good idea to make sure we get tannhill (I pray this does not happen!!) would require us to give up our #1, #2, and both #3s this year. So our draft would be Tannehill and then a 4th rounder etc. Given we have LOTS of needs including starting calibler WR and pass rusher I certainly would not do that, for someone with as many question marks as tannehill (despite what McShay says, his play in college does not make him worthy of the #3 pick)

so to all the Tannhehill bandwagoners here:

would you be happy with a draft where we take Tannhill and nothing in the 2d and 3d rounds? Assuming that is the ONLY way we could be certain of getting him???

Since we aren't getting any big names via FA, we need to fill holes by loading up with solid picks via the draft assuming we don't have much trade value.

Not gonna happen.

If we were going to give up 4 picks for a qb we'd have gone all in on rg3.

Like him or not, Ireland has shown that he sticks to his evaluations and doesn't over pay for players in trades. He has consistently passed on deals when the cost was higher than what he was willing to pay.

I'm a fan not an investor. Should the feeling that that Jeff Ireland is being 'smart' with Steven Ross' money make me feel any better about being 31-33 since he came on board?

I agree Truth---but following "the chart," that is what it would cost to trade up. Ireland wouldn't be "overpaying" in such a trade up. But Tannehill is not worth it so I really hope he doesn't do it. However, he can't get shut out this offseason in a "major" QB upgrade so there is a chance he does///

I'm not talking about Ross money. I'm talking about trading picks. He doesn't make panic moves.

As for our record the last few years....The only thing thats going to cure what ails you USA franchise qb. Since that isn't coming our way anytime soon I'd suggest drinking heavily and smoking copious amounts of ganga.
