We have bush, Thomas, slaton, and Medlin at RB. And possibly Messam, depending on how they see him. So, none of those free agent RBs are in the picture.

Exactly. Because you build the offense around things that Bush can do well. And if he gets hurt, you need someone who can step in and do some of the same things. If you don't have that, then you have to scrap a good part of the playbook. Plus, when Sherman left the Texans, they kept his offensive system for the next year, in which Slaton excelled.
Well said mark. I think Slaton is a good backup for when Thomas or Bush gets injured. Slaton is versatile and can handle a big workload for a few games. Thomas can develop into a good back but I think it's unlikely he ever stays healthy an entire season. It's just hard to do for any RB, especially one with his physical style of running.
I agree, Thomas, Bush and SLaton seem like a strong bunch to role with... THat is if they work well in Philbins system.... I hope we dont see Bush get held back under him... Daboll used Bush pretty amazing last year, that will be tough for Philbin to live up to IMO...

Think Roger Craig catching 80 and 90 passes in San Fran's West Coast offense. Think Ahman Green averaging over 50 receptions per year during his prime Green Bay years. Reggie Bush is an ideal fit in the WCO. Number one, he will catch a huge number of passes with room to run. And number two, the WCO will spread out the defense, creating more gaps for him to run. That said, he shouldn't get 1000 yards rushing. It is too much of a workload and pounding on him. Sure, he did it last year, but did he make it through the season without injury? No. What you will likely see is fewer carries, but more catches.
For what it's worth, Thomas has excellent hands out of the backfield. So, he could thrive in that part of the passing game, too.
