If we can land peyton what are thoughts on getting a two for one and pick up wayne as well. I believe that his contract is up and since they are rebuilding i think he also walks. I know people would say that he is old and we need to get younger but if we get peyton that tells me that we want to win right now. Maybe a three year window and these guys know eachother. Wayne marshall and bess, now we are talking... thoughts.

i think any team that signs manning will also sign wayne to make him happy. I think wayne is way past his prime though.

It wouldn't hurt for Manning to have a receiver who he already has chemistry with if he does come to Miami.

Too bad Dwight Freeney still has another year left on his contract with Indy. He'd be a nice fit on defense to fill the void that Jason Taylor is leaving behind.

Who's fighting you. All I did was say I liked reppa's idea.

You turned into more than a discussion on how Reggie Wayne would ease mannings transition and how he'd be a perfect #2 opposite Marshall.

The fact that I took a stroll down that side street should show you that I've got nothing but love for you my brother.

No thanks. Wayne does nothing Marshall can't. We need youth, size, and speed.

You just gave me pause to reconsider Ken and I know that we are both on the same side of not wanting Reggie Wayne.

But I'd trade him in a New York second for Brandon Marshall if I could trade one for the other. At least he can catch balls that hit him in the hands, particularly when he's standing in the end zone.

I agree we need youth and speed. But, Wayne has 14 dropped passes the last 3 years combined. Marshall has 35. And I don't believe Wayne has any intentional penalties he's committed because he felt his own stats weren't being padded. Please do not compare Brandon Marshall to Reggie Wayne.

Where is Marvin Harrison in this discussion, and heck maybe the Edge is still wanting to play ? :-)

Yes, they are both big, slowish possession type WR's.

Who wants to debate that picking up wayne is a huge upgrade at wr? and he and manning are on the same page, also i just remembered that reggie wayne played for the "U" yeah baby wayne come on home.

Dont get me wrong, if we dont get manning then i dont see the point of wayne but if we get manning i personally think that getting wayne is a no brainer since getting manning would mean that he tells our OC what he will be running and we will have to restructure the offense around him so why not get a wr that knows that offense?

If we get Manning, which I am against, I say get Wayne.

We don't need Wayne! Are you kidding me? We actually have a good receiver set with Marshall, Hartline and Bess, who I believe is the purest route runner and has the best hands in the NFL. Unfortunately these guys have been playing with backup QB's so their numbers are not as high. But if you actually watch them play, you can see how good they are and how far they can go with a proven QB. Davonne Bess career will skyrocket once he plays with a high caliber QB and not a backup. We just have to keep him on our team and not let him go like we did Wes Welker

Reggie Wayne is just another product of Peyton Manning, just like Harrison. How come nobody else wanted these guys

We got hartline.

why do we need wayne? He is another posession receiver.

Receivers should be the least of our worries...

This should be what we have to worry about. By order!!!!!!!!smiling smiley

1. We need a starting QB

2. The OL needs to be upgraded.....LT and Center we are ok there....Everything else needs to be upgraded....And keep your fingers crossed so that jake long does not get injured.

3. Safety we need a starting superstar safety.

4. LB a monster...like ray lewis

I think those are the main thing this team needs....If we can correct all those including QB who should be our number one priority then we shall be just fine next year.

I always said this team is just a superstar QB away from getting deep in the playoffs. We'll see how it develops.

A&O, Wayne was clocked during the off season running a 4.8 40. Yes he WAS much faster than that when he came into the leauge (4.4) and when the stars align properly he may still be. But, today he's not that fast. He's also 6'1 and right around 200 lbs...I get that he isn't a 220 lb guy but he's not exactly a small guy.

A possession guy is what he is at this point in his career, like it or not. He isn't a guy that's going to stretch the field...hence he's too much like Marshall.

Bigger downfield receivers aren't exactly key in the West Coast Offense. You want guys that get open quickly and are good running laterally.

I agree completely in the WCO size isn't always required. But a guy much like Demarious Thomas was is always a great idea regardless of the system.

wayne makes sense only if we get manning, and only then b/c they are "on the same page" immediately. wayne's skill set is declining and it happens very quickly at the WR spot when it does. remember how fast marvin harrison fell off?

I don't know whether I agree with that berk. If we get Wayne, we shouldn't expect to get him with the view that he will be on the roster five years from now. With that in mind, sure, if Peyton comes, I'd say the need for Reggie would be MORE urgent but even if Peyton doesn't, I'd say bring him into the lineup and either trade or ease out the need for that A hole, Brandon Marshall.

I fear we are going to turn into the Dan Snyder run washington redskins with this kind of approach, which seems to be the one Ross favors. Signing "big names" who are at the way end of their careers and adding them to a roster that needs much more than a few patches. The skins have sucked for a decade since Snyder took over.
I really prefer getting in some young talent who will be here more than the 2-3 years AT BEST guys like Manning and Wayne will stick around. I hope Manning goes to AZ, or better yet, WAS to take them out of the RG3 stakes.
