Very tough times for all of us. I do not agree with everything Ross does, but at least he is sticking with his plan - not giving total control to the HC.
Let's wait and see what happens. I sure hope Ireland is up to this - making a real contender.
You know, I've heard this crap from so many different sources. Who exactly has turned down the coaching job other than Fisher? Cowher isn't coaching anyone, so how is that a rebuff of the Dolphins. Same thing with Gruden. Does that mean Cowher and Gruden turned down every team that are looking to hire a new coach? Plus, if you take the newspapers at their word (and I don't necessarily), Fisher would have taken the Dolphins job if Ross had given him final authority. Even though Ross doesn't seem to be interested, Brian Billick expressed interest in coaching Miami. Marty Schottenheimer was said to be interested. Why is it that so many media outlets like to diss and defame the Dolphins? I'd much rather be a Dolphins fan than root for a classless cheat like Bellichick or a loud mouth loser like Rex Ryan.
I am glad that Mr. Ross isn't giving up final approval of the roster to the coach.
Coaches need to coach that is a full time job and being a GM is a full time job. Doing both is only giving 50% to both jobs.
I am not saying the HC can't have input cause he knows what type of player he needs for his systems. The HC has to trust that they are on the same page and the GM will get the best players available.

maybe we were not "turned down" by Gruden or Cowher. But I will bet you any amount of $$ if, say, the Giants and Eagles job came open, both would be coaching next year.
We're not at the top and we're not at the bottom. We're in the goldilocks position
and that’s 9-7 to 7-9 turf. Tho we’ve been trending more towards 7-9 or
slightly worse – but not bad enough for bottom shelf consideration.
