I am glad we dont have Fisher and glad he doesnt have control, however that doesnt mean that I am happy that Ireland has control...I feel Ireland will do good enough in drafts and better then Spielman,Saban and Mueller did, but I think his job description is a little bit more then that just drafting above avg....

I hope so...but won't Marty want to bring in his own GM like Fisher did?

Marty wouldn't have leverage like Fisher did. Also, Marty is Petersons boy, Ireland is also obviously Petersons boy, doubt there'd be a problem.

I like Marty, alot, he is a regular season winner... That team that was built in San Diego, was basically his team.... My only problem with Marty, is with all of those great teams he built and coached, and all of those regular season wins... I mean the guy was fired after going 14-2, the best record in the NFL or something like that, the year he got fired...The problem, and why he was fired, I dont think Marty ever won a post season game his entire career...confused smiley

Its not Marty's fault that Ladanian Tomlinson fumbled that ball with 1:15 left in the game and gave the ball back to Brady.

All San Diego had to do was run out the last 1:15 and they win the game, but LT fumbled...gave Brady the ball back and the rest is history.

Marty was not to blame for that loss.

I like Marty as a coach...always have.

My only issue with him is he's 68. We'll be back here looking for a new coach in 4-5 years at the very most.

I hear ya, but that was hardly Marty's only chance for a post season win... I will admit I was baffled when they fired the coach with the most regular season wins that season..

Marty is too old. I doubt he has the energy and drive to put in the hours required in todays NFL. He should have been our replacement for Shula instead of JJ...I've always thought that.

Dont get me wrong. Dont take my last post for a confidence vote for Marty.

I agree 100% he is way too old. We need a future. Future QB & future Coach.
