What does anyone think of Brandon (weedon) throwing to a Brandon(Marshall)? I know Weedon is 28, but he has a great arm, accurate, and is a great competitor.

I'd pick Weeden after the second round.

Im just not sure what the point is. We are trying to find a franchise guy who can lead this team for the next 10-12 years atleast. Not a guy who only has at most 5 years of high level play.

Great situations for Wheedon to play in are places that already have great QB's without good backups....

New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Dallas... teams like that.

But an organization like us, need a young QB who can lead for atleast the next decade.

28+ 10 = 38. Many Great QB's play past that.

Not a bad plan "b" at all. But make it a 2nd rounder.

He will be 29 next season. Normally players start to trail off after 34 years old.

The ones who play great after that age are normally the all-time greats. Dont give him that credit.

But we are not looking for "reliable backups". We do not have the courtesy of doing that....

We are looking for a franchise QB. Matt Moore is a reliable backup. We need a franchise QB.

I'm not saying any different. But if all the franchise QBs are gone, what do we do? What other choice do we have. We still need a backup.

Do we draft an unknown and just call him a franchise QB? I'm being realistic with respect to what happens if Luck and RGIII are gone. We can't go into next season with just Matt Moore. Weeden may not be a franchise QB but we still need a backup to the backup. Don't we?

Weeden would also give Moore Competition.Only good could come out of it. Something that didn't exist with the Robot Henne.

I totally understand what you are saying, Chyren. But thats why we have talent and scouting departments who get paid to search for the right prospects.

But a 29 year old rookie is a tough sell.

But A & O, you are thinking I am thinking of drafting him as a "franchise" QB. I am not. I'm looking for a back-up.

Do you think a 3rd rounder is too high for a back-up?

Maybe, ordinarily, but one of Weeden's value?

Ok, I see what you are saying.

But, again, it would frustrate me if our organization was "looking for a back-up" during the draft. That would mean they are settled on Matt Moore....ughhh.

No they shouldn't be looking for a back-up, Weeden or anybody else, if they can possible get Luck or RGIII.

Except we are not going to get Luck or Griffin because the price is going to be much too high.

Maybe not Ken. I just don't want us so focused on getting a franchise quarterback that we try to make someone a franchise QB who is not a franchise QB but is a backup and that we DON'T draft that QB in the first round that we should be content drafting in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th round. Weeden wouldn't be bad to have around as a backup if we get him in one of those rounds.

And like I implied before, "Do we really want to go into next season with just Matt Moore and J.P. Losman?"
