I was lucky enough to catch it and it sure did bring back memories. I didn't know that about the botched fake either. I also didn't know that one of the Chiefs' star players also worked full time for General Motors because the pay wasn't enough in the NFL back then!
Jan Stenereud went to have a great career but 40 years later he is still haunted at Christmas time!
One thing I'd never forgotten is that hell of a game Podolak had. WOW.
Wow- I am amazed that Dolphin fans did'nt care to watch this program. I guess you all want to just forget Marino next, right? This was a history-making game in several ways:
It was the first playoff win in franchise history.
It was the longest NFL game ever played.
It was the first (and last) playoff game played in Municiapal Stadium in KC.
The game featured 12 Hall Of Fame players/coaches/owners.
This game propelled the Dolphins toward their 1st Super Bowl.
I remember watching this game as a 7 yr old kid in my living room in Miami with my dad and older brother. I remember my mother getting really angry when she finally had to serve Christmas dinner on TV trays in the living room in front of the TV.
It's a lot more fun wallowing in the despair of the current situation of this team-whp'd want to see footage of this franchise when they were relevent?

It was worth watching, but I'm a bit surprised they didn't even re-run it later in the night to my knowledge (when my Christmas guests would have left for the night). They did a good job putting it together then only show it once? I thought it was weird.
The most interesting bits I learned were about the Chiefs' players--how Stenereud is still haunted by the game to this day, and how one of their star players was an auto worker (FULL TIME) during the NFL season. Also how Stram had previously won a championship game that came down to the wire, also with Dawson as QB.
i don't have any problem watching old phins games from the glory days, though I wasn't even born when this one happened so it's not that meaningful. I love watching old games from the marino years, which I remember very well, including where I was when I saw it the first time.
I just hope we can make some new great memories in this century. The only game from the 21st century they show reruns of from the phins is the jets game where we blew that huge lead on monday night. says it all right there....
I wasn't born until 73 so I never saw it. I watched it. I thought it was interesting. I do however remember watching the Monday night game against the Jets in 99(I think) and the Dolphins were winning by a lot at halftime. I remember I had friends over and everyone left because they had to be up early for work the next day and they were saying "the Dolphins got this one won" the Jets game back to tie it and went into I believe 2 overtimes and then won. The game was over at like 1:00 in the morning(Eastern time). I also had to wake up early for work the next day. I woke up tired and pissed off...I always thought that was the longest game ever. It's gotta be a close 2nd.Does anyone know?

Aw thanks, she certainly was. Best damn cook EVER too. She's been gone from this world for about 18 years, and I still miss that 4'10" powerhouse every day!
