Remember how I pleaded with you guys that Lousaka should not be cut and you guys kept saying that him being able to make that 4 and 1 (even inside the five yard line and goal) wasn't worth a roster spot?
Geez, either I'm insane or the rest of the world is!

Relax. he just got signed, he hasn't done squat diddly yet.
If you would go back in time to when Welker was traded and then put him on the same team with Polite last year after all of those crucial short drive plays, I'll bet more people would have argued that if we had both on our team, it would be better to trade or get rid of Welker.
I think the comparison favors the Welker trade more than the Polite trade.
All we knew at the time was that Welker was a little gumby who seemed to be catching a lot of passes because the coverage was concentrated elsewhere.
No one was chanting "Wes, Wes, Wes!" like they were yelling "Lousaka, Lousaka, Lousaka" like they were chanting last year.
I hardly think the comparison is overboard. Your mistake is at looking at the value of Welker NOW IN NEW ENGLAND and comparing that with Lousaka NOW having been out of football.
Welker caught a ton of passes for like 700 or 800 yards with us. Polite averaged about 1 yard a carry. True many of those were 3d and 4th and 1, but he is not the only player who could gain 1 yd in short yardage. No comparison between the 2. Proof? We traded Welker for a 2d rounder, Polite apparently has been a FA since we cut him before Week 1.
What do you envision Polite doing on the pats? Rushing for 20-30 yards total? I can live with that.

I never said making 4th and 1 was not worth a roster spot. I"m a big advocate of the FB position in general; my all time favorite player is Csonka.
What I was wondering (and still do wonder) was Lousaka's perceived drop off in play within the last year. His average dipped below 2.5YPC then we also had the young guy Clay competing for that roster spot. I also wondered (up till yesterday) why nobody else had signed him. I think it's more of a case of the dwindling role of the FB in the NFL than Polite being effective anymore. But we'll see what happens. I hope he converts three 4th and 1's per game with the Pats losing every time.
agree with berk. you guys are nuts. if polite is so good then why did he spend the entire season unsigned? everyone just freaks out when former dolphins get signed to another team, especially if its the pats.
Polite was good on short yardage until late in each season, when every team knew he was going to get the ball, and he would get stuffed. The same thing happened with Hilliard this year. He was great early on, and then as we used him over and over, teams stopped him. As everyone can see, the Daboll offense has very limited use for a pure FB. That's why Polite did not make the team. And his blocking in 2010 had deteriorated to completely awful. You can't carry a pure FB who can't block.
