Let's first off hold Gruden and Cowher to their words. They are not coming back. If that be the case, then Fisher is the guy hands down.
Here is why:
One could argue that Fisher never, not once, under-achieved in Houston/Tennessee. EVER.
If I could name the players I know off his team over the last 15 years, I could probably not name 10. That tells me he won all those games with no-name players.
Fisher was not in charge of drafting or managing players. Floyd Reese was and is a terrible GM and terrible at drafting. If you guys think Fisher is a bad coach, then you dont know football.
In my opinion, Ireland and Fisher could make a powerful duo. I think this past draft will prove to be our best in a long time, and its the one Ireland was in full control of.
If you guys honestly think about it, other than Eddie George, Steve McNair, Chris Johnson, and Albert Haynesworth, Tennessee didnt have any other stars during Jeff Fishers coaching tenure there and he still competed, and he still went to the playoffs...during a decade that had him in the same division as Peyton Manning, and the same conference during the dominant years of the patriots and Steelers.
jevon kearse and derrick mason. keith bulluck. remember that steve mcnair, eddie george and derrick mason formed a very talented core for theat offense. jevon kearse was a monster. the guy had some talent and he took them to the superbowl. he had good players and he won games with them. but don't make it sound like he took talentless teams to the playoffs.
I'm with ya A&O, everyone needs to forget about Cowher, the man just doesn't wanna coach anymore, Gruden just signed a 5 yr deal with ESPN, i'm sure he could be lured away but he's not desperate for work. IMO, Fisher's our guy AND a damn good choice if you ask me.
