Happy Halloween everybody! In response to all the religious fanatics that want to abolish the day, saying it is too frightnening for children... I decided to disguise myself as something that does not scare anybody. I will be wearing the uniform of the Miami Dolphins
I probably saw 500 kids trick or treating in south fla, and I didnt see 1 miami dolphins football player costume.... not surprising, but sad, back in the day around the same hood 1 in 3 boys wanted to be Marino, or Clayton or Offerdahl. This year I saw plenty of Tim Tebows(lol) and a couple of Hurricanes, even a Marlin baseball players...

A neighborhood, door to door in east Fort Lauderale, that had multiple block parties and house parties connected and consisting of 5 city blocks, it was chaos with the saturated ground.... It felt like a mini woodstock or bonnarro with groms in costumes..lol

Nice---glad to hear that kids are still out trick or treating in S FL in that many numbers.
When I last lived in Florida it was the Orlando area, and it seemed that damn near all the moms went to the mall with their kids for halloween. The moms liked it because they thought it was safer (and let's face it....women like any excuse to hit the mall). Kids liked it because all they had to do to get candy was just hold their bag open at the entrance to each store, and in the space of a few minutes they were loaded with candy. I thought it was stupid as all hell and am glad to hear that's not the case in South Florida.
There are still some family neighborhoods, around south florida, problem is most of them are expensive to live in, some better deals lately for obvious reason... There was definetly a baby boom about 5 or 6 years ago at least here and probably else where... The kids are back in numbers, but I still dont see them playing football in the vacant lots, and fishing in the canals, like back in the day of south fla.

You just pretty much described my childhood! although we played right in the damn street if we didn't want to walk all the way to the vacant lot (one block away). It was a special occasion when we would go all the way to the elementary school field to play.
