As each day, and each bone-headed decisions by the FO, goes by, I'm more-and-more convinced that Ross's strategy from the beginning of this year was to get us in position to draft Andrew Luck. In fact, ever since Luck opted out of last year's draft to stay in school, I think that's been his #1 priority. As a business man, he's done his best to run this team into the ground without coming out and obviously saying what his strategy is. Ross is being sneaking about it, and looking like a moron in the process...but I think this is all part of his grand plan.

So, my prediction is, once we're guaranteed the #1 pick Ross will:

1. Fire Sparano (in other words, he will NOT fire Sparano UNTIL we're guaranteed that pick)
2. Fire Ireland (as much as Ireland wants to think he's safe...he's only part of Ross's grand plan)
3. Officially hire Peterson to head up football operations (basically what Parcells did) and publicly announce that he (Ross) is a business man and NOT a football guru...so he must hire someone to take that on. This will excuse Ross for all the stupid moves that have been done up until then (which were ON PURPOSE..but Ross can't say that)
4. Hire a new coach who will bring in their own GM (probably Gruden or Cowher)

At that point Ross will take a much more hands-off approach to the team and will likely even limit his comments to the media. He'll fall into the background and will only appear if the team wins the Superbowl or starts to really stink (at which he'll start over or sell the team).

monte, if you're correct then I am wrong about ross and he is a genius. However I tend to doubt it....

Just to add to my theory: Could it be possible that the meetings with Harbaugh last year were just a smokescreen to get a better feel for Andrew Luck? Maybe Ross never really intended on hiring Harbaugh in the first place?

Haha I think you are giving Ross wayyyyy to much credit, wishful thinking I'm sure...Ross is the guy that has hammered the final nails in the Miami Dolphins tradition and winning culture. Among his mistakes: bringing in the "orange carpet" ...the horrible victory songs that make us cringe, the c list celebs, the night club in the stadium..yuck... this is just to name a few.

in fact, IMHO, The Dolphins have become the tackiest team in the league all under Ross's guidance. I want this circus to end and get some respect again, tired of being laughed at and whats worse, now I'm tired of people feeling sorry for me and my once proud team.. sad smiley
