Revamping the Team for the Future

I admit it, I have too much time on my hands these days and my utter disappointment with the Dolphins is getting the better of me.

Looking at the way things are going and have been going, I've evaluated the players on the teams roster--clearly non-scientific--and have come up with those players that should not be on the team.

Starting at the top, these are the players that should be traded, cut or otherwise off the roster:

Quarterbacks:
7 Chad Henne

Running Backs:
26 Lex Hilliard

Fullbacks:
no change

Wide Receivers:
19 Brandon Marshall

Tight Ends:
80 Fasano
88 Mastrud
89 Yeatman

Guard/Center:
72 Carey
74 Jerry

Offensive Tackle:
71 Columbo

Defensive Tackles:
None to be cut

Defensive Ends"
97 Philip Merling

Linebackers:
56 Kevin Burnett
58 Karlos Dansby
99 Jason Taylor (retires)

Cornerbacks:
21 Sean Smith
28 Nolan Carroll

Safeties:
20 Reshad Jones
39 Yeremiah Bell

Kicking:
No changes here

=====
QB: We need a 1st Round QB.
RB: We need another solid RB to back Daniels
WR: We need a top flight college player like Floyd at ND for #1 WR pos.
TE: We need two fast TEs, that can run great routes, catch and block
G/C: Replace Carey and Jerry with a pro bowler FA
OT: Dire need of top notch RT from another team
DE: Get a legit pass rusher who can play 3-4 scheme and tackle
LB: We need two athletic ILB that can cover and stop runs
CB: We need a shut down corner
S: We need an Ed Reed type safety.

Henne, Hilliard, and Merling are all free agents at the end of the season. You have to consider the cap implications of cutting some of the others. Cutting Marshall alone costs about $10M against the cap. Dansby and Burnett are likely big cap hits, too.

You know what we really need. We really need to fire all the coaches including sparano as soon as posible.

I think our failiures are more due to bad coaching than anything else.

And yes get that first pick overall.

Did you see that long td...The chargers receiver caught the ball fell by himself and then got up and walked in fora td....

You could see the phins defender CB or safety almost stopped running and gave up on the play....

Between terrible coaching and lack of effort this team is going to end up 0-16 this year.....

I will be surprised if we win a game this year...

BTW i doubt we beat kansas city either......They won a game which tells me they are at least trying hard.

Players and coach carousels are not the answers to success in my mind.We need an aggresive approach, enjoyable, changing, new edge system.I mean woodhead, edelman, welker(who we had) are nothing special. James jones, james starks, Ben rothlisberger, None of these guys are the best at their position. But they are competitve every year. They could plug anyone in and make them look like stars.

With our FO, they'll let Merling walk (rather than trade him for SOMETHING). Henne will either be let go or be re-signed for WAY too much money. Hilliard may be re-signed, because he won't be recruited by any other teams. Marshall will probably stay...along with our LBs.

What would it take to get Ozzie Newsome to come and work for the Dolphins?

I agree with your assesment Colonel.

furthermore I would add these guys to the trade bait :

QB Matt Moore

RB Reggie Bush

WR Hartline

LB Wake (sell high)

and lets get rid of:
HC Sporano
GM Ireland
DC Nolan
Special Teams Coach
& the waterboy
