He is having the Paul Solia problem prior 2010, he isnt in shape like he should and has had problems keeping weight down . If you were to ask if Paul Solia was a bust, going into his second year most people would say yes as well... And his issues were all weight related as well.. I have been told Jerry's old lady and family life isnt doing him any favors either in helping him get back to the shape he was in when the Dolphins drafted him...Lots of Big guys play is drastically affected by weight shifts, as was Solia... I am just not sure Jerry is going to make the cut so he has a chance like Solia did on the bubble for 3+ years
ps- I am not sure if Lydon Murtha might not challenge Columbo at RT. Lydon has been getting all of Jake Longs snaps, now that Jake is back practicing I am curious if Lydons improvemens will be better then Columbo's game..

Berger makes 800k, which is only $150k over the vet minimum for a player of his experience.
Yes, Jerry is a bust. As bad as he was last season, he has been worse this preseason, and that's playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers. He was still getting abused in the 4th quarters of both games. That's not good. And as you point out, RG is the easiest line position. Add it all up, and I think he has a zero percent chance of making the team.
I would disagree with that AO. certain positions should be at least passable NFL players when taken in the 3d round. I'd put OG in that group. if we're talking QB, CB, something like that, I'd tend to agree with you. We've whiffed on a lot of 3d and 4th round guards lately.
We obviously cannot scout OL for crap. Long was a no-brainer pick in the sense he was a virtual guarantee to be a solid player. And maybe Pouncey is the real deal, but that is not decided yet.
So it looks like Ireland is pretty weak at projecting OL talent outside of the obvious 1st round talent dudes.
bust is if you dont make the team unless drafted sixth round or later. i expect a third round pick to make the team and contribute at some point before his rookie contract expires. this is a reasonable expectation and if he is cut then he is a bust
