I dont think we cut or trade Merling. it seems teams like our and the patriots, or toehr with traditional 3 man fronts are going to more 4 man fronts. And with 4 man fronts you need rotation. It seeems that is what we are positioning ourselves for. Especially with another new DT we just signed yesterday. We have just about the right size of guys to do it, we just needed more of them...

We won't be cutting Carey. Cutting Carey costs us an extra $2M against the cap, above what we're paying him this year. It's too early in his contract, and too much of his signing bonus would be accelerated. And there is no viable alternative on the roster. Next year is a different story.

Bell is our leading tackler every season, and a Pro Bowl caliber player. There is no chance he gets cut, either. We don't have a viable replacement. Jones is likely going to be the starting FS unless Clemons has improved dramatically.

I think bell is not replaceble....We need him.....And although carey struggled like hell last year i believe we need him...who else is going to play right tackle..Carey is not a superstar but he is steady...
