Dobbins came on strong late in the year. He was awful early but looked good late.
I agree. besides the fact , Zack Thomas is some Tough shoes to fill, Crowder is just not an effective tackler. He's not a sideline to sideline player. I still don't understand why he was given a contract extention. I don't believe he studies enough. That how Zach made up for his lack of Physical size. He was always a step ahead of the Offense by knowing where the ball was going when it was snapped.
Crowder was most likely given the contract extension because he accepted a significant "home town discount." I recall some surprise when word got out that he signed for such a "low" amount, back when it happened.
It begs the question of what would other teams have paid for him, but that's another story.

Starks did make the pro bowl in 2010, though he didn't deserve it. It was a makeup for his nonselection in 2009, when he did.
what do you think we could get in a trade for merling? if a 2d round pick, I'd say we deal him and re-sign McDaniels. I don't see too much drop off there. Problem is I don't think we get more than a 3d rounder for him, and since he's still got untapped upside I want to see what he can do when healthy and motivated. Ideally we resign McDaniels also, and have the best DL rotation in the game.
Of course I disagree, Crowder's only glaring hole is when he is not on the field. WHen he is out, the run stopping defense is not nearly as good. His injuries are his biggest weakness, not his play... As soon as a player other then Dansby outplays a healthy Crowder, then I would agree, but at this point Crowder is the number 2 MLB. If he is not I will tell you, When Dansby and Crowder played sided by side our defense was at its best, unfortunately it didnt happen often. Since Crowder doesnt cost to much and bleeds aqua and orange, he is good for the team. If he cant string together a good season this year and play in at least 75 percent of snaps then his holding up a spot could start to be a progress stopper for younger guys but at this point, I just dont see that argument..
I also agree Dobbins had some good plays and games at the end of the season but went largely unoticed becasue we lost the games...

With all the hype around Edds, I certainly HOPE he turns out really good. If not he'll just be another Donald Thomas. High hopes...but a bust anyway.
