Going with a trade with New Orleans suggested by Armando Salguero.

Trade down with New Orleans. We give them the #15 pick and the #79 pick in exchange for the #24 pick, #56 pick, and the #88 pick. And I am going to assume that Miami will cut Brandon Marshall, changing their draft focus a little.

1st (24)- OL Anthony Costanzo, Boston College. Played G at the Senior Bowl and did very well. Can be plugged in at either G, and serve as insurance for Carey down the road.

2nd (56)- RB Daniel Thomas, Kansas State. 6’0, 229.

3rd (88)- WR Jon Baldwin, Pitt. 6’4, 229.

4th (111)- TE Virgil Green, Nevada.

5th (146)- WR Aldrick Robinson, SMU.

6th (179)- OLB Ricky Elmore, Arizona.

7th (217)- DuJuan Harris, Troy.

7th (218)- QB Ben Chappell, Indiana.

7th (235)- C/G Colin Baxter, Arizona.

I called a New Orleans trade a few weeks back, especially if JJ Watt is still on the board.

Ryan Mallett = Ryan Leaf.

Mallett with a 15mill+ signing bonus will lose all interest in being an NFL QB, and just go party with all his homies and beotches.

The QB we need to really target will be coming out next year: Matt Barkley.

We stick it out 1 more year with Henne(we would anyway), and angle for Barkley next year.

This year we need to load up on OL, LB, and WR/RBs.

No. Every team with a QB need should be targeting Andrew Luck.

We need to do everything we can to get him.

Let's chat after the Stanford/USC game.
I think you're way under-estimating Barkley's ability.

I am not under estimating Barkley at all. I have followed him since he was an 8th grader.

But Andrew Luck will be the Peyton Manning of the NFL in 10 years.

Wait a minute. Are you guys saying that you think this mock draft could seriously happen?

We give up a first round for a third round? (and what else?)

Am I misunderstanding what this mock says.

Why would we give up a first for a 3rd?

Usually, it's you give up a first for 2 second rounds or for, at least, a 2nd round and a third round or at the very least, for two thirds.

WTF?

What am I reading wrong?

it's not a first for a 3d. it's a first for their first and a 3d

Yes, everyone with QB needs will be angling for Luck. That's HOW we swoop Barkley. So we get the next Troy Aikman for the next 10 years.
And we're basing our forcast on Luck being rated higher than Barkley by next years draft. I will be watching them both very closely this year. It may be the only football we get.

Yeah, I had overlooked the 18th pick in that Mock Draft. It has us taking Ryan Mallet.

I like him but he's Henne2 and if we don't like Henne1, why get Henne2?

But, hey, if we're going to get a QB anyway, what do you expect a Henne Fan like me to say but "I guess if you're going to get a QB, get him if Gabbert is gone."

Mallett is NOT Henne. Henne was supposed to be a "safe" QB pick. Mallett is anything BUT safe. He's a gamble. We could get a jackpot, or lose our pants, with him. I won't hold it against them if they gamble on him. We haven't done that in a LONG time.

Just talking about physical presentation and skill sets, Monte.

You're still wrong. Mallet can make every throw, short or deep. That's what attracts teams to him. Henne has trouble with his accuracy on some throws.

As for physical presentation, Henne is 6'3" 230. Mallet is 6'7" 253. Again, NOT the same. Mallet is closer to Big Ben (6'5" 241).

I would even go as far to say Henne is about 6 1 1/2 - 6'2 and about 220-225.

Mallett is a giant. He is huge. His physical talents have never, ever been in question.

If he had the character of Gabbert, Locker, Kaepernick, Dalton, or Stanzi.....I think he would probably be a top 5 pick. Maybe #1 overall.

Henne didn't have trouble with his accuracy until he was force to take heat off his balls because our receivers kept letting them careen off their hands.

As for physical "presentation" I am not saying they are the exact same measurements but like both Mallet and Big Ben, they are big guys who rely often on their size to shake off would be sackers.

Mallet and Henne present physically more like a Ben Rothelisberger than a Tom Brady or a Bob Griese or a Joe Montana or a Peyton Manning.

Henne never really had the touch to throw a good lob pass. He, basically, throws bullets. He has trouble controlling how much heat he puts on the ball.
