Is there a player that you'd like to see us move up and acquire? WHO would put our team in contention and be worth the loss of additional selections? Who and how ?
I heard rumblings today the PHINS we inquiring about moving up to take a QB...
If he really Wants Gabbert and he falls past 10, I would have no problem with him showing some balls and going after him. We can make up for the rest in Free agency if we ever have one again.
Keep in mind, there may not be free agency this year. And if there is, the Fins will likely have very little cap room with which to work. They have $116M committed in salaries, without even re-siging their own free agents. So, we are not going to be able to fill mutiple needs in free agency. Trading up will likely mean giving up our 3rd and 4th round picks. the first 4 rounds of the draft is where you build your team. Anything from the 5th round on is a crapshoot. So, to trade up for a QB, we'll be more or less ignoring needs at RB, OL, TE, WR, ILB, and for another pass rusher. How is any QB going to do with an offensive line that can't run block, can't pass block, can't run the ball, and has no speed at the WR position?
Because, that's where we are now. We need at least 2 new starters on the o-line (and hope that Incognito and Carey are better in 2011 than they were in 2010). We need 2 new RB. We need a pass catching TE. And we need speed at the WR position to stretch the field and get the safeties to back off.
Here's hoping we do the smart thing and look to acquire more picks, and not give them away for a QB who may be good 3 years from now. There is not one QB in this draft that has maturity, an NFL arm, a high football IQ, and the experience running a pro style offense that will allow one to be able play and succeed early in his career. And there certainly isn't one who could play and succeed with the lack of weapons we have on offense.

He showed exactly why he's always played RG in the NFL, because he's not an effective pulling G, which the LG has to be. And his pass protection was lousy. He allowed 22 sacks, QB hits, and pressures. That is completely unacceptable for an interior lineman. Only Carey allowed more pressure on the QB.
Ronnie Brown's 51 yard run against Minnesota came behind Incognito. If you take away that one run, the Fins averaged 2.8 yards per carry when Incognito was at the point of attack.
imho... this season looks to be a 2010 repeat, with NO SALARY CAP!
I would trade up if it meant giving up a 2011 something for the chance to acquire PATRICK PETERSON if he were to fall out of the top tier. Have him return kickoffs and work into a significant role as CB.

There is no way the owners will agree to a CBA without a salary cap. And neither side is proposing a deal that doesn't include one. The owners have proposed a $114M cap, and the players have asked for a $130M cap. There will definitely be a cap, it's just a matter of where the final number lands. The consensus is that it will be $125M. And Miami is already at $116M after re-signing Soliai and Incognito.

Fine. Just give us Big Ben and we'll give them our 1st rounder. Done and done!

From profootballfocus.com, for the two games he played at C, he earned grades of -0.6 and -1.8, respectively.
