Making this thread as a possible deturrent for anyone that's got the idea in their head that Vince Young will bring anything to this franchise, short of headaches.
Chad Henne Stats:
32 games
61.1 completion percentage
6,246 yards passing
6.6 yard average per attempt
27 TD's
33 INT's
Rushing stats=none worth noting
Vince Young Stats:
54 games
57.9 completion percentage
8098 yards passing
6.8 yard average per attempt
42 TD's
42 INT's
264 rushing attempts
1380 yards rushing
12 rushing TD's
Looking at this from face value, the only thing Young brings that Henne doesn't is a fair ability to scramble. That's it. Passing numbers are comparable, but why would you want to bring in someone "comparable" to what you have if what you have is horrible? Move along people, Vince Young is nothing to look at.
Vince's rookie year he showed flashes of that leadership quality that got UT the national championship. USC was a stronger team, but UT played better.
Unfortunately, Vince has hit a wall. He's no longer the best player on the field by far, and it's hurt his ego. Michael Vick was a piss-poor passer when he first came into the league. I could see Vince improving if he finally decided to apply himself rather than whine about not playing. I think this coming year is going to be critical to VY to see if he goes the route of Michael Vick or Jeff George.

Unless Pennington comes back and can play (which I seriously doubt), I'll take Volek as a #2 or #3 veteran rather than giving away draft picks for Kolb or Orton. I think Thigpen will walk, so we may be left with Henne and a rookie. Are you comfortable with that?

Yes. Yes he is.

I used to think that Volek could be a player in this league, but it's been too long since he has done anything meaningful. Investing even a bit of time in him is taking time away from investing in guys that will actually help us in the future. It's a band-aid fix. A used band-aid.

So, if Pennington is done and Thigpen is gone, what QB would YOU pick up? Even if we draft someone, we're going to need a 3rd QB to push Henne and the rookie. I'd rather it be a veteran. What about you?
Pennington wants to play again. I would keep him as the 2 or 3 guy over Volek. I would keep Thigpen over Volek.
The list of FA QBs that will actually be available this year is not very pretty.
I can't help but have some curiosity about Leinart. I would be tempted to bring him in for a look-see; but be prepared to make a quick evaluation so that we don't keep him around long if he is just going to occupy space.

No no... I agree Young, and Henne are scrubs as of late.
However to just say Brandstater sucks, without watching him play is very stupid.
I bet everyone NE fan said that Cassel sucked, and was not happy when he started.
He could be worse, but I dought it, and I want to give the man a fair shot, he is already on our team, is signed, and let the man do what he does.
I want Luck in next year's draft so lets not screw the pooch this year, with some project WB in the first or a washed up vet.

Well, we actually played 3 QBs this season, so I'd rather have someone more durable than Penny.

When Henne has all day in the pocket he isnt that bad, but when there is pressure, he freaks out and either takes a sack, throws a pick, or throw's it to a defensive lineman.
Sorry but good luck with your personal feelings about Henne being the man. lol..
Didn't say he was the man; but I would like to see him in a better situation before we boot him out the door. There aren't too many (any) QBs who would succeed with no running game, poor pass protection, little/no speed at WR and ultra conservative play calling. Bringing in a new QB and putting him in the same situation makes far less sense than improving the situation and bringing back the same QB.
