It would make more sense to me at least that if we accept Childress as our new OC, then we deff need to work on our 0-line need's and bring in some F/A help with WR, RB, and O-line as well.
With Luck going to be in next year's draft, why not use Thigpen in this year's West coast, then just trade the farm next year for Luck, and we should have a pretty close to complete team, finishing next year's draft plugging if any a few holes?
I'm cool with Childress and the WCO, and I'm fine with giving Thigpen an even chance to start, but I won't dub him the starter at any point. I'd like to start TC with no clear QB starter...and no one named starter from day 1. Doing that with Henne was a mistake.
I don't think Chilly likes to run a traditional WC systems. I believe he likes a hybrid that includes both smash mouth and west coast philosophies. I guess it is a mixture of quick hits and ground & pound.
This might impress the current staff, who might be more inclined to make a change to a hybrid system as opposed to a full blown WC system.
If you are trying to spin the Henne argument around on me....then I have to say, I stuck up for the guy all year. I mean, ALL YEAR.
He looked like a good QB when things were going good. But, when times got tough and good QB's make plays and put the team on their shoulders, he flopped.
He did, there is no debate on that. Do we have alot of talent? Not really. Did he go 0-5 on final drives? Yes.
Again, Henne is a good backup. That is it. But, around here, we are looking for franchise QB's.
