just heard John Clayton report that Cowher is out of the running (took himself out) bc Ross wants to keep Ireland and Cowher wants to pick his own guy. Based on Ireland's body of work he deserves to be fired even before Sporano, can someone tell me WTF he has done to not only keep his job but to keep it over getting Cowher? This is reminding me of the Huizenga/Wanny situtation all over again where it was getting to the point is seemed like wanny had some incriminating pics of wayne, since he refused to get rid of wanny when for years it was clear he was godawful

Well I had a hunch this was going to happen, which is why I started the thread I agree with Shula, that Sparano will be retained.

OH WELL if Cowher is too much of a control freak, then I really don't want the chin.

Sounds like a excuse to not coach here to me, like he has a problem with Ireland lol..

Well if that's the case, then why start a new thread, that pretain's to a old thread about the same thing.

Geesh, excuse me for trying to keep things together, instead of having a hundred thread's stating the same info.

Just saying, but Krunk-Fu, point well taken!!

Hey no one else is going to scratch my back, so I will use a back scratcher, and do it myself!!

You are merely under the grave delusion that all of us immediately search for any threads you may have created on the front page, anxiously read every last coherent word that is posted there, then take all you have said as absolute truth and ignore any other opinions on the matter.

I didn't want gruden anyway, but this is getting embarassing. it's looking like Ross has screwed up this process in the worst way posible, and now we will end up with the pathetic crew, only even more undermined and less able to improve things or bring in a good staff or FAs

nobody is doubting your view, in fact it's a pretty obvious one and one most of us can seem coming a mile away. we're just tried of you repeating it in every single thread no matter the topic and acting like you thought of it allbyyourself

I don't understand why it is so difficult for him to let go of a mediocre GM?

At the very least he can rely on Carl Peterson simply for advice if need be, but there's no reason not to let Cowher have what he wants. Ross is a hands-off owner anyway. He's not going to be involved in the football operations, so why not hire a proven, successful coach?

At the very least it couldn't possibly be worse under Cowher than the season we all just endured.

Your "view" is probably from inside a padded cell somewhere in rural WV with internet access and no TV.

Am I close?

Well Cowher wants top dollar, and Sparano still would have to be paid for next year, so I mean makes sense to me.

Ross is all about the money, so this does not surprise me, plus if he brings in another GM, would it cost more money than what Ireland makes??

I don't know but from my crazy perspective makes sense to me.

I just think he is trying to save face and keep the fans not hating on him, by saying "Well I tried"?? JMCO. C for crazy.

Great points, which is why Im not high on Cowher if it means canning everyone, Im not a huge fan of Ireland, but he hasnt been horrible, just average I guess?

Like you pointed out how much was Parcells?

Cowher was surrounded by an excellent staff and top nothch FO in Pitts. He's intense but no one would consider him a football luminary IMO.

HC/GM all in one packages don't work...

But I'm still 75% UNSOLD on Ireland.

Well lets see what happens this offseason, and bring in a new OC?

Can't get any worse, especially if we bring in somone like Childress, or McDaniels.

Oh yeah Wade Phillips just became Texans new DC oh joy!!

RESPONSE: Precisely! There is no reason to dick around.

If you like Sparano, declare he is here to stay.

If you don't like him, fire him immediately so the market knows you are serious and not just exploring on a "maybe" basis.

The handling of this whole situation is absolutely laughable, I know i'm beating a dead horse but i'm just pissed at how badly Ross has handled this.

If the reports are indeed accurate how can Sparano come back and coach this team?

I mean the dude must have some degree of self-respect?

He should do the right thing and just quit!

I'll support that move Tony. Promise.

Well we don't know what went on in the meeting, and Sparano might be the type that will have a big pow-wow to adress his players and coachs.
