This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
I posted on another phins board on how I wanted to lose the rest of the season and be 6-10, this board I got flammed for wanting this...in the other forum..here is what went down:
Football seasons are too short to cheer for your team to lose. Go Dolphins (every week, no matter what) and the rest will work itself out.
Nonsense... that's being a cheerleader...
This guy is a fan that clearly has Miami's best interest in mind as far as their FUTURE is concerned... this season is over.
Meaningless wins sprinkled throughout from now until the end of the season only accomplishes a few things...
1. Increases the chances of keeping an incompetent regime in tact..
2. Puts the elite players in the draft that Miami desperately needs at key positions even further out of reach...
Pom-pom wavers aren't what Miami needs... what they need is another shot at a franchise quarterback... and a competent regime in place to bring him along.... every loss helps both of these causes..

Sounds like you found a new place to hang out. Have fun!

RESPONSE: Really? Who do you think will be banned, Dolfan1, or the rest of you/us (probably also me based on this post alone) for daring to fight back against him? I don't know. That sticky post sends out a chilling effect to everyone on the board.
Well, it's kind of difficult to ascertain just what he means. It gives him a lot of wide discretion in determining, basically, who will be thrown out.
Take this thread in particular. Yes, he could say that this is a non-football thread, lock it and permanently ban Dolfan1.
On the other hand, he could ban the rest of the people above who made snide comments about him on the basis that instead of discussing the merits of Dolfan1's post, you guys just attacked him personally.
Or he might ban me on the grounds that my post can be interpreted as criticizing the management.
There are no published rules specifying what type of post will get a thread locked or which threads should not be started.
Yeah, there's that general language about being courteous and showing respect but anybody looking at the posts that we have done to each other would clearly say that almost 90% of all posters on this board and 100% of the regular posters on this board (including PhinFans2 himself) would be banned.
I mean a sticky that says in specifics just what or what not causes a thread to be locked and then specifying which of these locking offenses will cause a poster to be banned.

BTW, I made a very detailed post above. I would have hoped that it would be answered with something more of a rule-making response then "some people just don't get it."
My feeling is, we need to get worse before we can get better. Much like the 1-15 season. I remember everyone saying "we need to win" and I had said why when your 0-8 at the time, who cares your not going anywhere. Same applies with this season, what I saw on the other site was a guy who chimed in and saw im for the betterment of the club and looking towards the future not today, as today and this year are over.
Sorry, but the idea of losing out is ludicrous, and won't happen.
Yes, from a technical standpoint, if you're out of the playoffs then you should play for draft picks but that isn't how it works.
There are too many problems that come up, with the first and foremost being that a coaching staff that's already on thin ice would have to tank the season and basically get themselves fired. Who in their right mind is going to do something that will not only get themselves fired, but get everybody under them fired as well?
Next let's tackle the money issue. Home attendance is already poor, why would anybody consciously make it worse? We're 6-6...it's not great but there is a glimmer of hope. If a 6-6 team packs it in, no matter how slim their chances are, they'll be getting a box full of my Dolphins gear in the mail. It's a total disservice to the fans.
Nay.
Packing it in at 6-6 isn't a disservice, and it isn't a slap in the face. It's a baseball bat up the ass, wide-end first.
Damn, The Futt is hitting homers on almost every post.
The staff might be criticized for a 10-6 or even a 9-7 but watch what happens to them with a 6-10 or a 7-9.
Moreover, how do you tell a youngster on the team to tank it?
What message do you send?
Now, I'm sure that what some people mean is not that we should intentionally tank it, (which I am sure is a violation of NFL rules and would throw Vegas into a totally tizzie), but that it would not be a bad thing for the future of the franchise if we had higher draft picks.
Maybe so but the real point is maybe NOT. This regime has shown the perfect ability to screw up draft choices (and I don't want to count on even the blind squirrel finding the occasional nut). More importantly, so have past regimes such as Wanny and Cam and even the end of the Johnson reign. Therefore, since past regimes have screwed up draft choices so might a future regime.
You know my simple fix for this team. You need people who can go out and find Wes Welkers and Cameron Wakes at every position. The top ingredient in a football player is neither talent nor skill but HEART and passion.
Heart and passion can make a division II player an NFL Hall of Famer. On the other hand, you can take a sure fire Top College prospect like (Damn this Alzheimer's what is the name of that tall QB from the University of Washington about 10 years ago who everyone thought would be the be-all and end-all and he ended up being a TOTAL FLOP) and still fail.
Point of lesson, the draft is an iffy position and isn't worth losing one single game.

Its about the future, lose now to be better in the future plain and simple. And I for one love the concept
"Its about the future, lose now to be better in the future plain and simple. And I for one love the concept"
Who's future? Not Sparano's if he tanks, that's for damn sure. What you are suggesting makes no sense if you approach it with even the slightest sense of realism.
Surely you can see that...you've said time and again that you're not a pessimist, just a realist, so this should be pretty obvious to you. So obvious that I don't even have to explain it for a third time to you.

I want sporano and company gone! THATS THE WHOLE POINT of why I want him to lose these games, this coaching staff sucks

Sorry I respectfully disagree. If your intent is to post over and over again comments just ment to upset people, your contribution to the site is garbage. Opinions are great, intent on causing controversy, over and over again is pointless.
I come to this site to see a diversity in opinion on matters related to the Dolphins,I agree. But when someone hates the coaches and regimes and is hell bent on continous bashing over and over again, is completely pointless and the definition of a troll... Sorry if your intellect is not able to comprehend this but some of us understand the philosophies behind intent. And pledging to cause controversy on this site until this regime is removed is going to do nothing but cheapen the site as it already has... Diversity in opinion is great, but one rotten apple can absolutley ruin the bunch or the website community...
I think it is important to states ones opinion and move on, getting into it with members is foolish. I believe Dolfan1 intent is to be a troll and get into it with members. And I think you are doing nothing more then encouraging it Phinsfan. Doesnt surprise me that a site owned by a guy from New England backs anothers foolish poster coincidentally from NE in his bashing of the Dolphins and boasting of NE... Just my opinion, take it or leave it

I was making a comment in response to Phinsfans, the moderator and his stance, as well as his question the intellect of others, as if his was superior and he had greater insight then others. A bit foolish
For all he knows, he is debating Bill Parcells and Stephen Hawkings

I was just making a general statement not directed at anyone in particular. I admit that Mia1 and this dolfan1 bring a sort of twisted entertainment to this site and in reality are harmless. If you don't like what they have to say, do not answer their posts...that's what I say.
Here's a general statement everyone should take to heart: Lighten up, it's football, not life or death(arguable I know). Stop nit picking and just enjoy things a bit more instead of trying to one up people and argue for the sake of arguing. It really is discouraging that people who claim to all be fans of the same team can't find common ground on how to discuss said team.
