You can call the last interception a fluke (and you are totally correct from the standpoint that it was not Henne's fault) but on the other hand, you can also say that the Browns draft people with good football hands and we don't. How could that Browns defender catch that ball on a surprise reflex and our defender drop an interception which he saw coming a mile away?
I am at every home game, What you see on Tv and what you see live is totally different, The Tv Locks on the QB and then on where the throw goes, at the game you see all the open options Heene has and fails to see. I started this season as a heene Supporter, I don't hate the guy now and want him to play well, but he just cant seem to see the whole field. I sit right between the field goal posts, and see the field somewhat as the QB sees it, and I see Heene lock on to a receiver and never looks away to see the open guy. I understood this at the start that it was just that it was inexperience but he has had time to grow and failed to do so. If he does not get it soon it is time to move on and find a QB... We all know the play calling has been terrible, but the execution of the plays have been just as bad... And as long as I pay to see this team play i will never be on the Band Wagon to lose games for draft picks, I do not pay for 4 tickets to every home game and preseason to root for a loss...
It is not all Heene's fault but he must bear part of the blame, He is our best option of what we have, but the search must continue. The batted balls are a huge problem and heene has some blame in that, it is going to happen no matter what but we have way more then we should, is he not throwing in the lane? or is he just not getting a throwing lane? We can't run the ball or pass with consistency, you say replace him with a veteran like Delhomme? That is not an upgrade, I want an upgrade, does not have to be Vet, just a QB that will grow, unlike Heene at this point has stalled in his growth. I personally as the Coach of this team felt good going into the season with Heene as the starter, I as am sure they thought he would grow into a talented QB, but I was wrong and I would be looking into drafting or trading or acquiring a QB in the off-season.. We need a new Offensive Coordinator and allot of other things for this team to be a Super Bowl Contender, That wont come in one off season... So looks like we will be waiting for a few years to have a chance...
You misunderstood. I was by no means saying replace him with a vet like Delhomme. What I was saying was that even if someone you pulled him out of the games this year and would have substituted in, say a vet like Delhomme, our record would be no different because of the other parts of this team that are not functioning.
What would have been the result if we replaced him with a Marino or Elway? Yeah, better but for any football fan to expect that every team could possibly have a Marino or Elway is ridiculous.
Put a good passer and a great thinking quarterback like Bob Griese on a team that is great in every other respect and you get 3 consecutive SuperBowl appearances, two SuperBowl wins and a perfect 17-0 season.
Put a great passing QB like Dan Marino on a team with other fairly good components and you still don't have a SuperBowl win.
