Richie Incognito has been one of the best surprises of this year. The guy that was notorious for having anger and self-control issues has been a gamer for the phins. I just wanted to tip my hat off to him. He has been stellar in all facets of his position, has stayed healthy and most importantly has kept his nose clean.
really? our interior offensive line has been way worse than last year and our rushing numbers way down from last year. what has incognito done that you like other than not getting personal fouls? I didn't get any personal fouls this year either!!
He is horrible in the upfield blocking, he does a solid job pass protecting, and his pulling is so so, however he has stayed healthy, and in controll of his anger.
thats because there all new, they need time to jell with each other,
"It's been fun to get the reaction of visiting coaches to the color of their locker room. Most don't notice it, but those that do are in trouble. . . . When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I've got him. I can't recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.” Hayden Fry
yeah we need some new running backs next year for sure.

Richie Incognito has an overall grade of -0.5. He's got a -2.5 in pass blocking, and a +2.3 in run blocking. He has a -0.3 for his 3 penalties. He has allowed 3 sacks, 5 QB hits, and 7 QB pressures.
He ranks 30th overall among guards. His run blocking is 15th. His pass blocking ranks 56th. His sacks allowed is 7th most among guards. His 5 QB hits allowed are the 2nd most.
So, people may point to the +2.3 in run blocking, and think that's really good. It's ok, but you need perspective. Carl Nicks is a +16.1, easily the best in the league. Matt Slauson is second with a +7.6.
This line has been make-shift all year. Long has been hurt and who knows how long it has actually been bothering him. The rest have been moved around and it takes times to trust and jell as a line.

I bet these stats also include Incognito's time at center versus the Bears.

IN other words we need to upgrade this position. Gotta pick OL and RBs in the draft....
The receiver position is fine assuming marshall comesback and gets his head on straight.
On offense we need.......OL, RB, TE
On defense we seriously need to upgrade the LB position.
If odrick comes back strong i think we are fine at the DL....And our DBs are set...We might have a couple of safety gems for the next 10 years.
Vontae os OK...and i still have high hopes for sean smith...Seems like he likes to hit...Did you see the hit he put onthat oakland RB. Thats a good sign...

Actually, no, they don't. He earned a -1.6 for his run blocking at C, and a +1.0 in pass protection.

I agree with your assessment. My only question is, what position should we shoot for in the 1st round. Ideally, if we're picking in the lower half of the round, I'd like to see us pick a center. I think Jerry will only get better next year. Incognito is OK, but we can't expect to have pro-bowlers at ever spot on the line. I'm wondering what's up with Carey. Is he losing his competitive edge? He needs to lose weight and get more agile in the offseason. He has it in him to be a Pro Bowler, but he hasn't been living up to that lately.
If a good center isn't available at our spot, we should probably go TE, as there's usually a big drop off in later rounds.
RBs can be taken anywhere in the first 3-5 rounds. I don't think we're looking for an every-down back anyway, so I'd rather us draft 2 or even 3 RBs and see who pans out. We're likely going to lose both Ricky and Ronnie next year, and there's steep drop to Cobbs and Hilliard. While those guys do compliment each other, I'm not sure if either is a solid 1000+ yard back.
