Good stuff. Too bad logic is lost on the handful of posters that would benefit most from reading this.

So any bets on a bunch of ranting being brought in after this post about when to draft a QB?

Nice work Phinsfan and thanks for the interesting post.

Now go to work on this. How many of the QBs you mention were starters in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd years? How many were benched to come back either with their original team or another team and succeed?

Being in Denver I look at Orton. He was a starter, backup, starter, backup at least 3 times for Chicago. He is now in his 6th season and has been very successful for the last two seasons.

Would be interesting to find what the average really is.

Oh, and yes you have way to much time on your hands, but I'm glad for it.smiling bouncing smiley

Thanks for the post

.... it is all abundandtly clear.... We need to get at least 4 2nd rd's and draft all Qb's or we go for 2 1st rd's and draft two QB's.... Either way, we will have hedged the bet and beat the odds.... How hard was that? Its easy to draft a stud QB. Lol...smileys with beer Great stats Phinfans!

I would like to see the avg stats over the first three years of those Qb's considered successful and how far off Henne really is with less then 2 seasons of starts from those stats

All this is interesting. As any good football fan knows, the success of a quarterback is directly related to the quality of the team he is playing for.
That is also a stat that would be nice to see although hard to determine.

I remember that when Wade Phillips was the head coach of the Broncos and the Broncos lost a playoff game to JAX, fans wanted Elway to retire. How dumb was that? But the media and fans were saying that Elway was over the hill.
We all know what happened after that. Broncos did have a great team when they went back to back.

Of coarse our Phins kicked their butts then too.smileys with beer

Gannon was amazing. That guy was a journeyman for over a decade before becoming a fantastic QB when he was about 34 when he was with his 4th team.
