I was there that night too, lower level near the corner on the Phins' side near the closed end....it was VERY loud.

And as BobT says, yes the OB had the stands closer to the field, was a lot louder....and it seemed to be made of some sort of special combo between metal and concrete that amplified the noise.

There was no "club" section, no expanded concessions area, no "game day experience" extras that would distract the fans'attention away from the game.

And to Crowder's question where did the fans go? Everywhere. The Miami population is transient; those who live there are very often from somewhere else, while those who were born there often move somewhere else. I moved to the Boston area. Over the years on this board I've seen examples of others who grew up in Miami but moved to the Northeast, the West, etc. The fans still exist, but they're geographically scattered.

The playclock was introduced in 1976.

I have been going to games since about 1980. I am aware of the Orange Bowl. I remeber my Dad use to bring his coolers into the game as long as he had a ticket for it... LOL...Could you imgaine that being allowed today...
I was unable to go to this game because I was in 4th grade and it was a school night...lol again... But I do remeber my teacher Miss Brown was friom Chicago and very upset by the loss....
As far as fans being transient, i understand that as well, I am a third generation local south floridian... That is like being an endangered species..... I should be on a list with the FLorida panther...lol..
