11-5 and Playoffs?

Just a theory. Let's look at our current record:

4 wins on the road
3 losses at home (to teams that have a combined record of 16-5..assuming Pitt loses to N.O.)

Let's take this to it's "logical" conclusion.

1. We should win all the rest of our road games!! That means beating Baltimore (5-2) and Oakland (4-4), and spliting with NY and NE.

2. We SHOULD at least win the against the really bad teams at home. That means beating Detroit and Cleveland (both 2-5) as well as Buffalo (0-7).

If we do that (we'd still lose to Chicago and Tennessee at home) not only would we be 11-5, but we'd have split games with NE and NY and beaten Buffalo twice. That should be good enough to get us to the playoffs!

So, Playoffs, here we come!!! smoking smiley

I like the positive thinking and I think the playoffs are still a strong possibility this year as well.....but........

Playing in Baltimore next week and hosting Tennessee the following week will determine if playoffs are indeed a possibility, I mean those are going to be really tough games!

If we can go toe to toe with a stingy Pittsburgh team that is very tough to beat than why not Baltimore especially with our road record!
I can see us struggling against Tennessee but that is another game we have a chance at grinding out a win.

Basically if the Dolphins:

1. beat Baltimore AND Tennessee I will expect playoffs this season.
2. beat only 1 out of the 2 teams I will still believe in playoffs but not expect them.
3. lose both games and I will not expect playoffs this season.

Next 2 games are a real test for this team GO PHINS!!!!!

Won't happen. I would love for it too. But, we are the 3rd youngest team in the league. Our offensive coordinator is probably the most conservative in the entire league. Our defensive does not make plays.

On top of that we are in the toughest division of the toughest conference. To go 7-2 down the stretch is going to be nearly impossible with the roller coaster type play our team gives.

Credit that to our youth. IMO.

If we make it, it will be a wild card at best. I hate to say it but the pats look like the team again...geez can this be happening again?? If NE does win the division they will go to the SB and win. My buddies are all Pat fans and I have to endure questions like "whos the best team in football without even Moss"? UGH.

Ah yeah?

Now how would you know that? They went undefeated a couple of years until they played the superbowl where they choked.

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember that more than one person on this very board was ROOTING for the Pats to run the table and win the SB undefeated.

More prove that there are pat fans posting on this board. I don't see how you root for the pats to go undefeated and tie the phins perfect season.

Only a pats fan.

Blasphemy. Pure blasphemy. I have literally ignored every post from those wanting the patsies to go undefeated.....I know who they are and they are dead to me.

Baltimore game is huge. This game could determine whether or not we make the playoffs. When is the last time we beat them? Anyone know?

I hate injuries, but beating the Titans becomes a lot easier if Britt is out.

Also, I hate to sound like a whiner, but that blown call against Pittsburgh could also determine whether or not we make the playoffs. We are 4-3, but would be 5-2 if that call is made correctly.

Every game is huge. We have Detroit and Chicago coming up.....we cant lose those. Every game is important.

True - however, we may need to get into the playoffs based on tiebreakers against Baltimore and/or Tennessee.

Yes, the last time we beat Baltimore was our sole victory in our 1-15 season, in 2007. That was a game to remember, but a year to forget.
