Of course not, but I couldnt believe we were 137 to 27, that means we are playing sloppy and executing poorly compared to at least the Falcons. And if we play like that, forget the turnover in the redzone but the lopsided minus yardage we will lose. It is a sign of a team that played with a lack of discipline, focus, and poor coaching to be honest with you. Of course it was preseason.. but the other team didnt have such problems.
As a basketball coach, I buy into another philosophy. That is the philosophy of momentum. In a basketball game, we have all seen coaches sense a momentum shift and immediately call a timeout. I explained it to an assistant coach once this way. The team with the hard-on can screw you. Actually it wasn't screw that I said, but you get the point. Last week the Dolphins offense gathered momentum early and rolled. This weekend they never got rolling. The law of inertia apllies to sports. I am not worried about our offense. It can gather momentum and move. The problem for me has been the fact that the defense doesn't seem to provide any resistance to other teams momentum.

LOL... Guess what stops momentum or the laws of Inertia, Minus plays or being inefficent or sloppy... The act of being efficient goes hand in hand with the philosophy of momentum... Are you serious, being a coach you must understand that simple correlation? If you are not efficient you dont gain momentum and it applies to both sides of the ball... Some of the minus yardage or hidden yardage has to do with penalties on defense and ST. And making the other teams hidden yardage higher means your defense is playing well causing them to have negative yardage. I guess you have to watch the press conference. Sparano is saying you have to win the battle of hidden yardage or most likely, especially in close games, you will lose. Since we always seem to be in close games, he believes it to be extremely important to the success of the Dolphins.

Sparano can give it any name he wants. If the team plays bad we will lose. Period.
One major area of concern here is penalties. Pre-snap and offensive holding need to be fixed right away.
Solving the pre-snap is obvious. That is just a case of discipline, and the coaching staff needs to get this right.
In general, I think holding penalties mean that the players are either lazy w/ technique or being handled by a physically superior D-Line. I cannot find a single Defense we've played this preseason that has a bigger stronger line than our OL, and gotta think that these players are just using crappy technique. Once again, this is discipline and coaching.
Fact is, playing with discipline is a huge problem on this team - particularly the O-Line. This comes down to the coaching staff. I noticed this problem crept up last year and doesn't look to be fixed. Didn't Sparano fire the OL coach from two years ago and replace him with one of his buddies?

There have been a lot of holding calls this preseason, and Carey only has had 1 of them.
Jake long also has a holding call. Fasano has two. Just about everyone on the line, except Carey, has had a false start.
The problem is very wide spread. And I think it points to issues in the offensive line coaching.
Im not talking preseason. I'm talking about last season when he killed a ton of drives. Especially late in the year in must-win games when we were behind

Apparently this drive killing disease spread to the rest of the O-Line in the offseason.
