Well he won't sit out the whole year. Cause then he loses the year of service. So he would still be 2 years away from free agnecy. That doesn't help his cause. I think the rule is by week 10 or so you have to come back to get the year of service to count. And be on the team the final 6 or so.
Revis is related to Sean Gilbert the ex-Packers NT/DT from the 90's and Gilbert is advising Revis and is in the inner circle of his. And Gilbert did do the 10 or 11 week holdout a bunch of years back. He came back for the final couple weeks to get the year of service to count.
With that said, I would be shocked if Revis isn't there for Week 1. Hope I'm wrong though!
I dont really think it will affect the Jets season, because I dont think the Sanchez is going to excel in his position, like everyone thinks, and his erratic throws will cost them games.

Uh, what? I mean I understand the second part of what you're saying, but to say that the best player not showing up during the season won't affect them? I dunno bro, I dunno. Imagine if our best player just decided not to play for the first 9 weeks of the season. I would bet it would affect us tremendously.

Vonte and Sean are makin good chunks of change. One a 1st round pick. The other a 2nd round pick making big bucks. You wanna pay Revis some $17 mill a year on top of those two? No chance in hell.
Plus by Revis holding out, it won't be an issue till 2012 I believe
I saw an interview with the Owner of Jets Woody Johnson, yesterday, where he was asked, if he had to guess would Revis play for the Jets this year and he answered. "No I dont think he will"... not expecting the answer, the interviewer choked on his words with a reply "Really"...
he'll sign before the season starts--bank on it.
you think he's going to sit out the season and get paid ZERO, in the season before there will be a lockout and possibly major changes to the way players get paid? not a chance. the jets owner is just playing a game to try to get him to move off his threats.
It doesnt matter, because Marshall is going to abuse any CB he goes against. Him sitting or playing doesnt change a thing that there starting NT is hurt, and there QB is not that good, along with there wr's they are decent, but not fantastic.

Well, he has enough money in the bank that if he sits out a year he is OK. If Revis has balls he will sit out the first couple games of the year and see the Jets buckle and call their bluff. But as I stated yesterday, the first game for the Jets is on Sep 13th. I think on the 11th or 12th of Sep he will sign his deal and be ready for the Ravens Week 1.

"According to the New York Daily News, the Jets and CB Darrelle Revis are $40 million apart in their contract proposals. And that’s just in base salary. The sides also need to agree on a signing bonus and how much money will be guaranteed. It doesn’t sound like a deal is going to get done any time soon."
I cut and pasted this from a fantasy football web-site I use (I can't reveal my source for fear of my secret weapon for this up-coming season will be exposed)
Sean Gilbert is the Uncle of Revis and he pulled this stunt of sitting out like 9 or 10 games a bunch of years back. And Gilbert got paid what he wanted. It worked out for him.
40 mil APART seems ridiculous (if thats true, hope it is) I would of never thought he would sit one game out, but if that number is true....i'm starting to wonder
This is what happens when you decide that you are the best and have to be paid the most because you are the best. It next to never works out. Speed tends to disappear with age, and as a cornerback he can't afford to miss any chance to get paid. I think he signs during the finale of Hard Knocks!!
He won't play any preseason games, I think that's a given. The Jets D will suck ass in those games, the first team unit will fail miserably and the Jets owner will panic and sign Revis to a front loaded contract. At least, that's what Revis and his agent are planning on I'm willing to bet.
For those of you that don't think Revis is willing to sit out the season, remember, this guy is a NY Jet. He's considered the BEST NY Jet. He knows this, and his ego is going to match that consideration. If it comes down to it, I think he'll sit just to prove a point.

Silly rabbit, don't you think you might have just exposed it by pasting a quote from that site?
