Been hearing & reading a lot on Jason Worilds whose stock seems to be rising. Could go rounds 2-4 could be on the Phins radar.

Have heard some think Owusu-Ansah may go in the second

IMO...Round 2 and 3 is too high for a guy with 12 sacks in two years.

Same goes for Misi who only had 8....not enough production.

May be, but most have Misi going 2, 3 at the latest.

College production good or bad, doen't always equate to success at the pro level.

Worilds played with a bum shoulder all his junior year. Last year, he got a lot of hurries just not as many sacks. I'd say he is a step below Derrick Morgan, but will have more value in the draft.

At 6'1, Worilds would not seem to meet the Parcells/Ireland LB prototype.

Sapp only had 13 sacks in 3 seasons, and he's not much of a run defender.

I think a big question that has to be answered is what they are going to do with Cam Wake. Clearly, Wake is in their plans. If they didn't feel they had one starting OLB, JT would have been re-signed already. And Porter cited Wake as the young guy they didn't want him to block. So, is Wake going to play WOLB or SOLB? If he is the WOLB, then you have to think twice about all these guys that are pass rushers who aren't good against the run. Because, if we need a SOLB, then ability to set the edge against the run becomes the key. And I know no one is going down this path any more, but I still think McClain could be the pick. Pro Football Weekly says he could play outside. And we could consider him as a guy to play SOLB for a couple of years, and then move him inside to replace Crowder.

Picking McClain and moving him to a position he's not familiar with (SOLcool smiley would be wasting the pick. If that's want we truly need, we can pick up a decent SOLB in later rounds. We need to go WR, FS, or NT in the 1st round (probably the first 2 rounds).

How is this different than drafting Dan Williams and moving him to NT in a 3-4 when he has been a 4-3 DT in college? Or drafting Derrick Morgan or Sergio Kindle and asking them to play OLB in a 3-4, when both have been 4-3 DE? And any LB experience they have is in a 4-3. Or drafting a WR who has played in a spread offense and then asking him to be part of a traditional NFL passing attack? And some of the top FS prospects in the draft have actually been playing SS in college. Most college teams do not use NFL style offenses or defenses. Players are asked to do new things all the time. If McClain is the best player available at #12, you take him.

The transition from ILB to OLB is more complex than DT to NT. Jason Allen never handled his move from S to CB and back to S. It delays a rookies development to do that. If we did that, I wouldn't expect much from McClain in his rookie year.

I disagree. The difference between being a one gap DT to a 2-gap NT is huge. That's why it's so tough to find guys who can do it. And Jason Allen is not a good example because he played both corner and S in college. We didn't ask him to do anything new. His development wasn't slowed by anything other than his own lack of intellect as a S and lack of coverage skills as a corner. Asking McClain to play SOLB as a rookie could give him a lot less to worry about, in terms of not being the guy responsible for calling the defense.

Never heard of this guy, and don't care too. His name I cannot see being talked about in a good way. Don't think he will amount to much, 4th string prob. It's all about the name. smileys with beer
