2) Ben Volin (Palm Beach Post, the daily dolphin blog)
3) Dave Hyde (Sun Sentinel) been around a long time
4) Izzy Goud (New) but so far I lik him (Sun Sentinel)
4) Omar Kelly (hot and cold, his ego/injecting himself into stories I dont like) He thinks he is the smartest football guy ever, which he isnt.. (Sun Sentinel)
5) Brian Biggane I think is his name(Palm Beach Post)
6) Armando Salguero Every once in while he pulls a rabbit out of the hat, but his stories reminds me of how my wife would look at football (Miami Herald)
7) Mike Bernadino , a flounder ( Sun Sentinel)
I look at it a little different as well sometimes, Some close friends of mine are tight with alot of Dolphin players, hang out with them, etc... I hear things about players attitude, being out of shape, partying etc.. And on the other hand some guys being hard working, in excellent shape, super smart, etc. I dont like that these reporters dont put some of these players on blast or give the guys doing it right more props.

Truth- I dont get what you mean, WHat does this have to do with a reporter and GM being friends? Bernadino wrote a horrible piece with no sources, pure specualtion on his part, that is being questioned by even his own collaegues at the sun sentinel...

I have a low opinion of reporters in general.
I've grown accustomed to them offering opinions and speculating instead of just reporting facts. For me, that is now part of their job description.
I don't have an issue with a guy speculating on what Martin being selected means to Jake Long's future. We were doing the same thing on Friday.
Bernardino has a job to do. That's to draw eyes to his paper with Dolphin related material. Was this his best moment? Nope. But I'm not really going to sweat it.
In my line of work, every presentation I give to a client isn't perfect either.
As for Ireland, he did his job. He cleared the air and went after the erroneous report. If that embarrasses Bernardino...so be it. He had it coming. But he doesn't work for Ireland so I doubt it will have much of an impact.
Bernadino writes a crappy article, that then gets picked up by mike Florio who the turns around and post it on PFT with a title stating "Jake Long on his way out" which then in turn gets picked up by Mike & Mike in the Morning and they destroy us for being complete idiots for not wanting Jake Long and then every national sindicated radio station is hammering us.....
Considering how bad Colombo was last season, and the huge gaping hole on the right side of the line, I thought it was stunningly obvious that Martin was, in fact, drafted to play right tackle.

Exactly right.
Which is why the opinions of national media types means next to nothing to me. They are just feeding the machine by repeating what they heard and twisting it to suit their needs.
Its why I didn't get excited when a few talking heads mentioned Ross comment at the Tannehill press conference. I heard the comment. It was harmless. The national guys already have their opinions/perceptions/agendas and they are going to push them no matter what he says.
In the absence of a comment to twist they will invent a story to suit their purposes. Ross could have stood there yesterday with a ball gag in his mouth to keep from speaking and there would be story out there of how he refused to endorse the pick of Tannehill at his press conference.
Truth the difference is Ross gave them the material with his comment. That is what Ross, doesnt get, as owner you have to be careful what you say.... The ego gets in the way of better judgement.
Problem is Ross and Dee, are trying to reinvigorate the fan base, build hype around a player to do it... It doesnt work, fans down here are tired of that type of tactcs. It has gotten us no where..
It is time to keep your head down, and lets your actions on the field speak.. Selling hype is useless in south florida, when it comes to the Dolphins these days... TO many dreams and hype that never reached fruition. WHich is why they lose credibility... Kind of like the boy who cried wolf... Eventually words becomes a joke...

Florio hates me. My comments always get deleted. Once in a while one will sneak through though. He knows I don't like him.
We just have to hope Jake Long stays glued together or the speculation is irrelevant.
But yea, reporters find it necessary to play amateur psychics and do what’s necessary in order to draw attention... The problem is there’s so much competition and everyone is scrambling to remain relevant in a media mix that’s fragmented into a thousand pieces…

He has to Eat? Thats Bullshit my friend. Let me go out and arrest anyone then, hell my family has to eat too right?
Let unscroupulous Car dealers and Auto shops run amok and overcharge people. They need to eat too right? And we shouldn't expect the Truth and Good Solid based Reporting from Professionals?
Sorry that pisses me off. Don't even get me started on another News Story thats huge right now becuase of Slanted Bias media. If you have no News to print , You shouldn't be given a license to make some up becuase you need to feed your family. F that.
And I'm glad Irlend is finally showing some balls.

Did anyone here actually READ the article in question?
NOWHERE in that article does Bernadino imply that the Dolphins are thinking this... or that the ball is in motion...or that sources tell him...etc...etc...etc.
All he did, is exactly what we did on this site after Martin was picked. He added up the circumstantial evidence...
Long is in the last year of his contract.
Long has had injury issues.
Long already makes a ton of money and hasn't agreed on an extension yet.
Miami just used the 42nd pick for a 1st round (projected) LT who is the prototype LT for a Zone Blocking scheme.
Then he asked the logical question that comes from that evidence. Heck, he didn't even answer that question. He just put it out there.
Now if you guys want to argue that that is an opinion piece and he's supposed to report the news, not write opinion pieces...go for it.
But if, as a fan, anyone read that nonsense and got upset by it they need a thicker skin.
Kudos to Ireland for squashing a rumor before the talking heads could go nuts with it on Monday. That's his job.
As for Bernadino...who really cares?
The issue isn't really with him. Its with assholes like Florio who take that meaningless, speculative article...slap a provocative headline on it and spin the story off in a whole new direction that are the REAL problem.
what is the big dea? bernadino was giving his opinion that this could lead to long leaving. he didn't say anyone from the team told him that. it's his opinion and as a columnist (as opposed to a reporter) that's his job

Sorry, i think it is horrible that Bernadino had a chance and a responsibilty to ask Ireland anything he wanted and chose not to ask questions and investigate, research, check with sources before publishing an article like this.. He didnt, I expect some form f truth seeking in reporters.. Or is the sun sentinel, now TMZ/enquirer. I must be living in a different world. I dont read Bernadino, his knowledge and insight is awful, and he normaly cheap skates himself and his profession by his lazy actions that leads to misinformation to those that read him... Just more proof...
SO i guess you are saying there is no such thing as sports reporters they hide behind the columnist title and now they can just make up stories...lol

Actually, I doubt Bernardino had a chance to speak to Ireland about it.
His article was posted at 10:34 pm friday night.
At that time Ireland would have been knees deep in either just having selected or preparing to select our third round picks.
Its a major assumption to assume he had the time to answer any questions from any reporter in the hour or two leading up to that story being posted. Not that I expect The truth to change your opinion.
You are entitled to want your reporters to report and do nothing else.

There you have it. he's half a rung above Armondo Salguero in your eyes.
That explains a lot.

In a way, that's the truth. There really aren't any pure reporters anymore. But its disingenuous of you to claim he "made up" a story. He didn't. He wrote an opinion piece. There's a huge difference.
sorry but the sports pages would be totally boring if all that was in them was "Miami Dolphins drafted X player in Y round with the following stats _______." We already know that the instant it happens with tv and the internet. I want some insight/opinion about what this means, whether this was a good pick, etc. Whether that insight it right, wrong, stupid, whatever, I don't have a problem with the person writing it. What I don't like is what pft does, taking a tweet or something, and then reporting it as "fact." Like the "ross insists we take tannehill" story, totally bogus.

Then SAY THAT. State this is my opinion, Not fact. But the whole argument that reporters have to eat is what pissed me off, not the actual article. I see some of the Bullshit the media creates around some incidents that I have actually wittnessed first hand.
Again I'm not going to mention a certain news story thats huge now, but Trust me its 100% media driven Bullshit. No different then this article. Goddamn reporters print made up drivel and sensationlize everything just to sell news. No different then some so called "reality Shows". All Bullshit. You need to eat? Find a real job if you can't make ends meet reporting Actual news.
