#12 and Impact of JT

I have recently gotten involved back into this website which i think is great.... so if this has already been brought up then im sorry....
If the dolphins do decide to draft NT from Tenn (Williams) or WR (Tate)(Bryant) and dont plan to address the OLB then what are they waiting for to sign Jason Taylor. I know he is old, but he showed he still had a lot left, and with this uncapped year i feel that it would be a great gesture to the fans to resign him. But if we are playing to take an OLB in the first round then... idk.... im just saying

Yeah I think we should re-sign JT. And take an OLB early in the draft. If not in the 1st, there'll still be some talented OLB on the board #43. JERRY HUGHES would be huuuuge #43.

JT just had major surgery a few weeks back. Before we hand over millions, lets make sure he isn't damaged goods. When someone goes under the knife you never know if they will come back the same. And he isn't young to begin with.

There is no rush to sign him. And if he leaves, then he leaves....like I said he's old and it wouldn't be that big of a loss

1. Doubt they feel that now is the time, but I think they should sign him if price is similar to last year.

2. Surgery results, and how he shows up and looks in OTAs may give insight as to value, and comparison (+ or -) to wake and others on board.

3. Draft availability may come into play. If the right guy is there they may go for another LB

- I however personally think we have glaring needs elsewhere, such as NT, WR and safety before we fill LB slot that we have some talent available for.

4. JT has some gas in the tank I think, but is more a positional player than the every down guy he used to be.

He played with the injury most of last year after getting hurt on Oct. 12th last year. He had surgery to repair it but it was referred to as minor surgery...not major. 3 month recovery time.

Major surgery is ACL/MCL like Kris Jenkins and Wes Welker had where they remove a tendon from your hamstring and put it in your knee and it takes a year to recover and rehab.

Shoulder surgery for a DE/OLB is not like for a QB. Obviously he will have to pass a physical before he signs with anyone.

We need a SOLB and WOLB so signing him would help out a great deal. Not to mention the mentoring and leadership qualities he would bring to an inexperienced LB'er crew and rookie OLB.

Sparano wants Wake to play SOLB so utilizing JT at WOLB would be ideal. Wake still has questions whether or not he can be a 3 down player.

I highly doubt we take a NT on the first day (round 1 and 2) but still need a FS, OLB and WR. Adding him would allow us to go FS and WR or vice-verse. OLB is very deep this year.

Ultimate draft...Earl Thomas, Demaryius Thomas then OLB in round 3 and NT in 4.

I think there are a couple of factors. Number one, you have the shoulder surgery. It doesn't make sense to commit to JT until he's further along in his rehab. Number two, it depends on the role. I think the Fins would like to sign him as a pass rushing specialist, and a guy who can fill in at either OLB spot until a youngster is ready to take over full time. And then JT becames a backup at OLB, but can still be a pass rushing DE in obvious passing situations. JT will need to accept that role. And I imagine it depends on who gets taken where. If we don't fill the OLB role until the 3rd rd of the draft, JT would probably feel better about his role. And if we take Sergio Kindle or Jason Pierre-Paul or Derrick Morgan at #12, then maybe JT would find the situation less desirable

I dont think JTs status has any bearing on our draft strategy. They say this is a deep draft for OLBs and I see us taking one early if not in the first.
