It was reported shortly after the SB that Fujita and Sharper would both be resigned.
Fujita is gone to Cleveland and Sharper may follow out the door as well.
His veteran presence would be great for our young secondary.
He had a 5.7 rating in coverage but a -.9 vs the run...good enough for an overall ranking of 7th.
He could be great in Nolan's scheme so he can play center field and roam around and leave the run support to the big boys and Bell.
That would allow us to take a safety later in the draft and watch and see how much Clemon's improves.
Our needs would be down to NT, WR and both OLB spots. We could even double up on a position depending how the draft falls. Still could use a TE and RB and some depth around the roster....PR...etc.
He is EXACTLY the type of player we need. A grizled old vet in the secondary.
He isn't a long-term fix. But he solves our problem for this year and next. Opens up the draft for us and now put off saftey for a year or to let Clemons play behind him and hopefully get better.
I wouldn't be upset with all if we signed Sharper.
I think we are not seen as player frinedly option for free agents
The handling of the Ryan Clark visit only further reinforced the view.
I'm a bit surprised that the FO is not more concerned in getting experience in the safety posiition, given our two CB rookies, sean smith, and needs in many other areas.
Even if we had another 1st round (which we don't) we need experience at the position given our secondary.
